Since I saw this distinction at the school I'd most likely do a DIY post-bacc at, would you be considered an undergrad (since you're not formally attending a grad school/researching/etc) or a grad (since you got your BS already)? Or does it not matter too much since you're only taking however many classes you need to patch up the GPA (which could even be 1)? Does financial aid ever help DIY post-bacc students, or only if they need to take enough classes to practically go part- or full-time?

Also, are Touro CA and Touro NY the same? And does Touro's Masters program help your chances of getting into Touro's med school, as my folks think it does?

Thanks!

You would be a non degree seeking student, you can take both grad and undergrad courses. No financial aid available for non degree seeking students, in most cases.

I have completed 1.5 years of post-bacc courses, and I am considered a non degree grad student. I will be finishing my second post-bacc year this semester, and I have taken 34 credits of upper level biology courses (including two courses that were co-taught at the local med school). I am also a current MD applicant, and all of my classes were added to my undergrad GPA and boosted my GPA by 0.35 points. At my local university, I only have to pay for the specific credit hours I take, but I'm not sure if financial aid will cover the cost of the courses, since you won't be getting a degree when you finish.

You can take a fifth year of undergrad if you are "degree seeking" and receive federal loans but only loans. I think the max was something like 7500 though so if you want to rely on loans entirely pick a cheap school. When I did it I essentially enrolled seeking a bio degree but just dropped out once I had everything I needed. I had to pick a degree to receive fed loans though

Edit: Ah damn, didn't realize you guys bumped a super old thread.
