You should check my thread in the "Peace Corps like organizations" thread in preallo.....

I bet, I'd be spending most of my time indoors if I was there.
I'm tempted to fly you to Michigan for Holly and I's wedding just to see what you make of a Midwestern winter......hopefully there will be lots of snow. :meanie:

Yeah, well, try fighting that battle. I figure I will just go to school, take my hits, and move on. It will all work out in the end.

Plus, most of what they tell us now will be significantly changed by the time any of us finish residency.

Yes - it will have changed.

Take your hits, and get as much free food as possible.

Hey DoctaWife.....welcome back.

   No problem, I'd just walk around with a giant bearskin wrapped around me or something.
"Who's that? Kind of looks like Cousin It"
"Oh it's just Todd. He's from Hawaii and isn't used to the cold."

At this rate, I'll be at 8,000 posts by the end of the week.

I responded to your post in the Peace Corps thread...... 😉

I really think rural high schools have a better selection of drugs, and normally better quality (if you can call it that). I see more narcotics OD out there than I ever did when I was living in Maryland and running calls in the "ghetto".

The only difference here is that we don't normally find people shooting it.....Oxycontin for a while was the bane of my existence. I worked three ODs on the crap on consecutive days.....stupid kids.....one died.....

Hey DoctaWife.....welcome back.

Well, I'm an idiot. I thought I was working tonight, but I'm not. The crappy part is that I'd slept, caffinated, and geared myself up to work. So now I can't sleep... despite copious amounts of alcohol.

You'd think that with enough booze I'd forget how to type or remember how to sleep... no such luck.

Well, that's just natural selection right there. The ghetto kids have the dangerous doses ingrained in the DNA, while the rural kids have no idea how to properly take doses of Heroin/Cocaine/etc. 😉

Yeah, I know what you mean......the kid who died had taken like twice the LD50 of oxycodone (according to the autopsy report).....by the time we got to him, he was toast because he'd been out and apneic for a few minutes. I just don't see how someone could think "OK, one's good.....so 15 must be even better."

That does suck, but now you can keep Todd and I company.

Know what? Oxycontin or over-caffinated?

But damn, my cats are cute. All sprawled and head-up and stuff.

Yeah yeah, the claws are out... but only in a cute look-at-me-laze-about kind of way.

It's actually a hunk of frozen hamburger in a martini glass.

I took the picture for our annual Meat and Martini party - the 2006 edition was the first in a new city. As such, it warranted a startling picture. Thus, the meat in a martini glass.

This year, the graphic is a standardized picture of a butchered cow. Not nearly as original, but hey - some things don't need repeating.

And thanks for all the luv.

😍

And my cats are still cute.

If stinky.

There's a white cat that I see everyday when I walk up to campus. I want to take it home with me, but I'd more than likely get kicked out and I really like where I live.

But HEY - ya'll can't got to sleep now! Not fair.

(Even tho yes, I know it's 430am... ya'll just have to sign out before leaving!)

Oh.....cool.....I thought it was a brain. My mistake!

Sorry, I was getting food. Mmmmm......cheap TV dinners.....

One of the interesting facts about me is this: You know how some people are wine snobs? I'm a cheese snob.

That sucks. One of the beautiful things about being an attending is owning my own house. Ain't nobody can kick me out as long as I meet my payments. So we have two cats, 20 fish and a gas range.

Yay for us!

I have a love for good quality extra sharp Cheddar or a nice spicy pepper jack.......in fact, I've got a 1 lb block of pepper jack that I am breaking hunks off of to eat along with my TV dinner.

Nice....I just have a parakeet and a cockatiel......I also sort of have an Indian ringneck parrot, but he technically belongs to my grandparents.

Technically, it's 12:30 for me, but I gotta go to sleep. I really can't sleep past my lecture tomorrow. Talk to you peeps later. Todd out.

Lectures don't actually matter. Letters of rec do. Unless you're getting an LOR by going to a lecture, I'd just sleep through it.

Just my 2 cents.

I normally go to lectures, turn on a tape recorder and go to sleep.....good thing I don't snore!

Blah. I've never been able to stand birds as pets. I'm glad someone can. But if my hubbie loved birds, I would have to break him of the habit of keeping birds. Vicious little critters. Right up there with pit bulls.

Yes - snoring is bad. My study partner told me I 'meep' in my sleep. She kept me awake in lecture for the next three years, just so I wouldn't meep.

Very sad.

Actually Alex (the parrot) is a very loveable animal.....he's more like a child than any other animal I've seen....the other two, well......they have their moments where I'd like to wring their necks but for the most part they are well behaved.

Alex actually has flown over when I'm sleeping on the couch and snuggled up under my chin. He's a cool critter.

Interesting....I know if I sleep flat on my back I snore a little, but it doesn't happen in any other position.

Okay, I guess that some bird out there some where has to be the exception that makes the rule. So your bird can be that exception.

All other birds are the Sons of Satan.

And that's just the way it is - 'cause birds are evil. And that's that.
