Pop quiz this. 😡

Anyone else feel that they were slightly mislead???? I never have, nor will I argue questions on tests, etc. but I genuinely feel as if I (and many others that I talked to) were misinformed. Someone checked the notepool where Dr. Woolley discussed the quiz situation. I didn't read it, but heard that it said quizzes won't be in the middle of a series. Don't quote me on that, but I'll check it out later.

P.S. I was about to study until I read what lecture was today. Anyone else have a wonderful story like that one?

My roommate talked me out of studying for that same reason. Damn TJ and his gunner ways!!!

Oh TJ...freakin' gunner.

He looks good in a uniform. Doesn't he. 😉

Or is that soundman??? Can't tell. I'll do a spring test to find out.

I listened to the mp3. She basically said...the quiz, if there is one,(hint, hint) will come at the end of the series..after part III. Did "the" refer to just this one series or all of "the" series? I started studying for the quiz at lunch until someone reminded me that there aren't quizes in the middle of a series, which jogged my memory. so I checked email instead....oh yeah, not to mention I was told individually that we still had another week to work on getting the sacrum thing down.

If you re-read the September 24th Email that she sent out (after the Sept. 21st one that she forwarded to everyone), you'll see that it's very ambiguous, and I personally interpreted it to mean that quizzes would only occur at the end of any series of linked lectures.

On a side note, I briefly listened to the Cartilage mp3 in slow-mo, and let's just say it's kind of creepy. She talks slow enough as it is, so putting it in slow-mo is like listening to the "slow" kid in this clip:

Warning: make sure your sound is NOT on for everyone to hear.

Haven't had much time to look, but I feel bad for not letting you guys know that quizzes can & will occur in the middle of a series on the previous lecture. For our lucky class it seems like they try to purposely put them on days when we have other exams...let's hear it for OMM!!!

I have no problem taking quizzes in the middle of a series. We (at least the vast majority of people) were accidentally misled to believe otherwise.

Oh well, what's done is done. It's just a 5 point quiz anyways.

Good to see you on here bonesawz!

Is bonesawz who I think it is? same first name as misparas? And why don't i know who it'selectric is?

And yea it is only 5 points, but I was under the same impression as everyone else was...that there weren't quizzes between lecture series. It's interesting how so many people misinterpreted that, but oh well. I believe like everyone did bad, i talked to one of the fellows and she said if you got a 3 you did better than most of the class.

JBone...

My wife is gone for the month! You can't go around putting up pictures of a cute blonde girl with a big gun! Dang.

do you guys think our class is going to have anyone volunteer to be an OMM fellow?....just curious

Soundman told me he was interested.

BTW, hope all is going well in class. My stress level just jumped up about 50 notches. I'm screwed. But happy.

Honestly I'm not sure... On one hand, they pay for years 3-5, give you a stipend, and you have a better chance of staying put in this area for rotations (for a spouse's job, family here, etc).

On the other hand, it's an extra year before you graduate (ie lost year of income as a dr) and you'd be viewed by many as just another "duck on the pond" if you catch my drift...

If I was more interested in PM&R then I'd go for it, but what good does it do me to have all that exerience with OMM if I want to go into IM?

I'd say there are a few that are probably gung-ho about it in our class, but not more than that. That might have been different before Boesler left, who knows?

Follow up question to who will be an OMM fellow. Who will volunteer to be an OMM TA? Generally speaking, I would TA things that I feel confident in my knowledge/abilities in. In OMM I feel lost many times and this seems to be more of the rule than the exception from the people I talk to. I really just hope they get this department figured out and fast b/c right now, it is not good.

We need to start an abandoned med student club. We'll have t'shirts and everything. Of course we'll have to have club meetings at lunch and get the cafe to bring us one of those 30 foot subs that are 20 pounds of bread and 3 slices of meat.

I like OMM, I like being able to put my hands on someone and actually attempt to do something. I don't like how there is little to no research to back it up but, hopefully that will be fixed. As for being a fellow: no, I only like one fellow and that is the one that everyone thinks is dense. I like her because she is the only true honest one I have met; she admits when she doesn't know someone rather than walking around the room acting like she knows everything like some. She maybe a ***** at sometimes, but so am I . As for being a TA, I might. I can't be a TA for anatomy, that is sure (the room depresses me for some odd reason). Eh...

I'm in. This month anyway...

I want bread sticks!!

As far as first year OMM goes, most people are lost or not really 'getting it' at this point of the year. The sacrum is an interesting unit as so much of the Dx of the sacrum is done in your mind. Once they teach you guys about the Innominates & other areas, things will start to come together. I don't think the department is quite as exciting as it was for us last yeat, but it isn't bad.

There is just a point toward the end of first year where all the Dx & Tx just start to make sense b/c you have had all the theory behind each area. I would also highly suggest being an OMM TA b/c it is great review. I have gotten points correct on my practicals b/c I remember what we taught you guys the weeks before & you get paid so it isn't that bad.

I'm really surprised at this statement. This girl has absolutely no clue what she's talking about but is TEACHING about OMM as though she does. She doesn't say she doesn't know stuff, she just teaches you it wrong and makes the whole department look bad and me confused. This reflects poorly on everyone in that department not just her, imho. Just a difference of opinion I guess...😎

Yeah, but they all make mistakes, she is just the only one that admits to it. Normally, I don't find out the others messed up until I am trying the technique and the TA's or Woolllllley bully is like, umm, no. I don't feel like I am getting taught that very well at all but, if I had to make a choice between bad options I guess I would go with that one. It is hard to find a silver lining in a thunder cloud though. :scared:

I'm a little scared of the short blonde one.

you've got to be kidding me? Really? I'm not even going to look at that thing then. All it will do is freak me out and piss me off.

Jamers -- I'd rather have someone who is sometimes right like 60% of the time then someone that is always wrong...Well then again, if she's always wrong atleast I'll know whats right...Right? or Wrong? I'm so confused.😕

Get a room.

Agreed, I always get super-confused when she lectures and it gets to be a little annoying. I think Woolley gets a little mad too and I don't blame her.

I'm sick of these stupid A$$ pop quizzes. You want to test my knowlege, WRITE ANOTHER FREAKIN TEST! I would rather have an exam than these stupid quizzes.

Hey wait, I have a great idea, let's give them pop quizzes on day they have huge exams in other classes. That way we can really screw them over. :meanie:

Ok, venting moment over but this is BS. 👎

Need more sleep...

Jbone,

I refer you to post #1511 about OMM quizzes. Could be worse, you could have had your OMM written exam today w/ all kinds of irrelevant questions about how it is obviously necessary to treat someones post. radial head or fibular head. I never knew my arm was so screwed up until I started 2nd year OMM.

I don't think he needs to be reminded about quizzes, rather venting about the stupid quiz and then a lecture that is ridiculous, and shouldn't be taught by someone who can't teach. I feel like a guinnea pig in a bad experiment being taught a course that no one can really explain to me what is really going on. But let me sign up for that 3rd year and do a fellowship right away!🙄 👎

What happened in OMM lecture today? I was there, but I really didn't catch anything that happened, other than some bad jokes that a certain lecturer used to mask her lack of... umm, sense?

Hey everyone, got a quick question for you 2010'ers.

My friend and I are going to be in Des Moines Thursday...my interview is that day (first one, kinda nervous!).

What's a good club or bar for Thursday night??

I'll be right outside the AUD tomorrow during lunch signing autographs. One item ONLY!

You can only sign autographs outside the auditorium after reading us some poems. Don't forget to bring your dolls

You sound like a teacher when you start off a comment like that.

Anyways, leave my wife alone!! hahah. Apparently everyone kept looking at me when she was messing up but, alass, I was aleep by that point.

Anyone else kinda loosing their drive or is that just me? I just kinda think learning about embroyology or cell differences using a microscope are not going to be help me unless I want to do research or be a hemotologist. I know, I know, it is all on the boards but, why not have a class called embroyology and leave anatomy where anatomy should be? I wanted to become a doctor to help people and, it seems, learning about this crap is just clogging up my brain. Eh, maybe I just need a vacation. End rant.
