Right on. I go to ames everyday on my route. And hickory park is unbelievably good so me and the family come up quite often.

Sigh. $500 deposit due within a week and I still can't make a decision. Personally, I like DMU's curriculum better, it's alot less expensive, and it's alot closer to relatives.....but I am still drawn to CCOM. CCOM is so much more expensive, but I like the facilities better and eventually I want to practice in Chicago, plus its much closer to my boyfriend. I just don't know what to do. Anyone got any opinions?

If you like CCOM and you will be happier there and you eventually want to stay there...then CCOM.

Does the admissions office actually know the specific reasons as to why you were put on the waitlist/denied? Or does the person that you speak with on the phone just try to come up with easy answers like that?

The answer they gave you seems a bit weak. You should ask for a better one if you don't get pulled off the alternate list.

Yeah.. I tend to think the answer was pretty weak as well, but unfortunately i could not pull anything else out of the guy and he told me not to worry. I guess its all part of putting up with the crappy process and hope that I can make a difference when it comes time to the alternate list choosing.🙂

Haha I do like to attend shows but no that was the guy from South Carolina. Im tall, dark hair, mentioned that I was in France when I got my interview invite. So there was IowaDoc, 1 guy from SC (the one who goes to shows), 1 was a runner who recently had run some sort of well known Iowa marathon, 1 was wearing a sweater and started a software company and also founded a non-profit Haiti relief organization. That was all the guys I remember.

I'm not for sure if I am. I am currently accepted to A.T.Still Kirksville, DMU, and KCUMB... WIth Rocky Vista as probably accepted to also... I like DMU and it would make the logical choice, but I REALLY like the Genesis curriculum at KCUMB (systems method).

I'm not disappointed. Way livid pissed, but not disappointed.

No it is important to pick what is best for you. KCOM is a good school. DMU is best for everyone though in every situation. /superbiased

Interviewed here today, I am not sure how the interview itself went, it was my first and it is kind of a blur. The facilities were awesome though, and the students all seemed happy. The faculty all seemed great and focused on the teaching aspect of their job. This place is definitely high on my list.

Yup, I remember you. It was nice to get to know you. Good luck with your interview and have fun on your trip. My KCOM interview is next week, then the rest of them are evenly spaced throughout January and February.

Did anyone else get the letter from Dr. Mueller saying "I'd like to encourage you to seriously consider joining DMU" after they already paid their deposit and sent in their acceptance form? Is this just a formality letter or should I be worried that they don't have me down as planning on attending? With the deadline this week it kind of concerns me.

I did. I think it's because, even if you pay your seat deposit, you technically haven't chosen to go there. You can still opt out... so he sent them anyway as a nice gesture to convince you to come to DMU if you paid your initial deposit but planning on not going.

I emailed Kyle yesterday asking if he received all my stuff just to make sure, and he said that they have gotten everything and my seat is secure. You're probably in the same position! But you can email him just to make sure ([email protected])

I actually think they'd tell you even if you've been rejected. How long has it been since you interviewed? It takes about 3 weeks.

In that case... I think they said up to 60 days for notification of interview. Not sure if that counts for hold status though. Has it been 60 days?

I withdrew my acceptance today. I was accepted at a school in Cleveland so my fiancee decided that since we have lots of friends and family nearby there we would have a better experience there. Good luck to you all and I hope one of you waiting for a spot gets mine that I gave up! I LOVE DMU and it was hard to pass up since there was nothing negative about that school.

I've also been put on hold here too 🙁 From my experience with on hold in the past, they'll come back to your file after the turn of the year - usually sometime in January or February. Hopefully some good news can come out of it, but I haven't heard of anything good coming out of an on hold status before at many schools, unfortunately (not to be a debbie downer! but you never know )

What's the NT forum? And I'm not surprised you've had interviews or acceptances....i remember talking to you on Erie's forum and your stats were perfectly fine! Maybe it's people just being jeal 🙂 Anyways, sending a letter of intent is definitely a good way to go - I was going to do that after my new grades come in. Good luck! 👍

My stats aren't great, they are okay. Either way, DMU and AZCOM are schools I would consider going to over Erie, so I figure its worth a shot. I was recently UNrejected from KCUMB (how does that happen???) and submitted the secondary... We'll see... I figure it can't hurt to start sending "yoooouuuu whoooooo, I'm still here... Yes luckily. I received the other acceptance roughly 4 hours after I paid that seat deposit. And I paid a day early too!! I really wanted to kick myself, but luckily they were really nice about it and I explained my situation. So they did refund it. DMU really treats people well; it's not just a facade.

I interviewed on 12/9 and received an acceptance exactly one week after my interview. So you definitely have a chance at an acceptance. This school does not seem to beat around the bush. If they want you they will extend a hand out quickly. I am impressed by that and by my time at the school so much that I am going to cancel most of my interview invites.

I'm wondering the same thing. I interview on 1/20. I feel they will have a good idea of how many students are committed to DMU by the time we are considered. Hopefully there are plenty of open seats for us!

Also, my wife was talking about a great deal on heavy duty binders and it got me thinking, can any current students comment on the office/school supplies that we are going to need. Buying way early usually means awesome deals. Other than the norm. If I need a lot of binders, I am going to spend the money and buy ones that last a couple years.

Does DMU give you print out notes, or are power points available ahead of time to print out before class? I usually like to handwrite my notes.

Awesome. I will load up on nice binders. Also curious about toytles question. Do we get this huge packet of stuff with everything we need to know, minor power points we can print out, or nothing but the name of a needed textbook. I know it is early, but I am pretty excited.
