DMU/KCUMB 3rd-Year Core Rotations

I need some help. Within the past week I've received acceptances to both DMU and KCUMB.

It is my understanding that, for both schools, there is a lottery system that matches students into their 3rd-year core rotation site(s). The system tries to match students into one of their top 3 site choices.

I am from St. Louis, and I'm interested in the prospect of serving my 3rd-year at Des Peres Hospital. Since both schools offer spots at this site, my question becomes this:

How sought after is the Des Peres site at each school, and what percentage of students who want this site actually end up getting it?

In the event that nobody knows: If I (an accepted student) were to call each school, is this information that can be made readily available to me? I would think that they would be more than happy to help answer my concerns in any way that they can.

I think your idea of calling them directly is the best approach. I am sure they would be happy to provide you info on their rotations. They could put you in touch with someone who handles all the rotation placements and they could give you all the specifics.

DMU's hospital/site affiliations for 3rd-year rotations are listed on the their website.

I will certainly give both schools a call to see what I can find out about the their site placement statistics.

Hey, I go to KCUMB and we are in the process of choosing our rotations sites this week. To answer your question, and these numbers will obviously vary from year to year, our class has about 5 spots at Des Peres(they don't tell us exactly how many spots but they give us a pretty good idea) and we have right at 5 people wanting to go there. So, in my experience you there is about a 1:1 ratio of spots to people wanting to go to the site. Hope this helps.

I know it's not one of the schools you're talking about but KCOM has 10-12 spots at Des Peres, in case you were thinking of applying.
