Here's an additional suggestion from my wife and I, you might consider buying your household furniture and materials here.... Walmart Supercenter, Sam's Club, and Target are only a few hop and a scotch away from your complex.... It would probably be cheaper to buy new things than taking things over.... Although, you can't beat the sentimental values of your own stuff now.

So reconsider having to take stuff here.... We came with nothing but books, clothes, computer, printer, and the basic essentials.

Hey KIDT, you might want to consider buying furniture from some of the students leaving for rotations. I am selling an entertainment center if you are interested.
I have a question. Where are the women in your class of 2005? So how do the prospects of your female counterpart look?

There is interest going on about documentary of osteopathic med school students.... I was wondering if any previous students of DMU reading this can help me....

Does DMU have a PR department? Do they have filming equipment? Who should I talk to regarding possible funding, rights, etc?

I'll be pursuing on it my own, but would like any input from my fellow upperclassmen/women.... Thanx

Hello All! Just thought I would say a quick hello. I found this nifty internet station with computers and free net access in a mall. My friend and I are supposed to be on our way back to camp but what they don't know won't hurt them 🙂 I think my job this summer would panic Josh; I have been driving nearly everyday (and I'm talking 15 passenger vans in downtown Albany). I drew the line on driving to NYC. I didn't get a chance to read all the pages you guys have posted but..wow! I hear it is kind of damp and cool in Iowa. We are in the 90's and my tan is coming along well 🙂 Have a great summer, maybe I'll cruise through this mall again in a few weeks 😎

There's a few people in SDN that's trying to organize a documentary with AOA or PBS. Something similar to following a bunch of Harvard med students.... I'm not sure if you ever watched that one.... but folks are seriously considering it. As far as whether or not it flies... I'm not sure. But someone already contacted the PR's of AOA and they think it's a great idea. Funding is a question and they will get back to us.....

Oh well, it would be nice to get some PR for osteo.... 😎

BTW, it's been temp is bouncing between low and high 80's. Occasionally there are warnings of possible shower or t-storms. Last week there was hale!!!.... Just wanted to post one more just to get rid of the "triple 6".... 😀
 
Hey all!!! It is beautiful and sunny here in Fort Lauderdale... just overnighting it here on my way back! I'm tan and in good spirits... needed to replenish my Vit D stores. damn, took me a while to read all of the new pages!!

Kid T, I got a Gevitz book you can have. I'll be in the detroit airport for an hour tomorrow... then off to Omaha... 🙁

Anyways, the diving SUCKED but the weather was great.

Kid T, you get back in Des Moines July 8th? Make sure you e-mail me with the specifics so that I get to meet you this time. anyways, I'll check the thread tomorrow and see you all soon

Diving is done... now I still have to go to south carolina, maine, california, and michigan before school starts!!!!

By the way, I read the best medical book ever... "The House of God" by Shem. It is a must read for all med students. can borrow it if you want! I also highly recommend "Timeline" by Crichton. Can you guys tell what I did while I was frying my brain?

Also, Charlies Angels soundrack is awesome! Just some summer fun tips! 😎 😎 😎

By the way, did you know that there's a law in IOWA that states: "Kiss as long as but not as much as five minutes." Apparently, it's against the law to kiss longer than five minutes. Maximum penalty is $25 😀

Hey JP and Kid T, I'd be more than happy to help with the documentary. I do have a lot on my plate though. How about trying to get an educational grant from a big drug company... I know it means that they will put their name on it as well, but it will get done professionally then.
 
One problem is writting up the proposal.... Geez, I'm beginning to think I'm putting too much on my plate and I haven't even started yet...

Here is a question for any of you Pacific sideliners... Does anyone out there know of any good DO's or MD's in Hawaii??? I have friends out there that I can live with but only want to go there for rotations if I know that they are going to be good teaching physicians. Any input???

I have yet to touch the biochem stuff... I'm still retyping the first week osteopathic medicine class.... interesting history.... Do we really have to know all that stuff?

Hey - here's the deal, my Iowan friends. I will be driving down on Friday, the 6th to move my **** into my apartment. I should be there after midnight. I'll be around on Saturday, if anyone wants to meet up, but let me know now, so I can tell my folks that I'll be leaving. Also, since I'm driving a moving van down, I might need to be picked up, lest you want a damn Uhaul parked at your building! I know it's a pain in the ass, but I do want to see you guys. Just let me know.

I get the keys on Sunday (hopefully Saturday, if you want the truth). Po - I think I might have to take you up on that offer for helping me lug furniture. Nothing big - just a mattress and maybe a couch. Everything else is cool.

Let me know what you guys are thinking. Hopefully this will work out!
 
I was just killin some time and watched "Dude, wheres my car?" It is possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen!!!! The "Pledge" is also really bad... terrible ending! The only thing that made up for it was the fact that I found "Replacement Killers" at best buy for $10 and then listened to some Ja Rules... yeah... Pimpin in Iowa!!! 😎

Kid T, Fight Club definately has one of the best endings to a movie that I have ever seen. Good call! I gotta check my girls work schedule for that weekend. If she works all weekend, I'll definately see you on saturday or sunday. I'll try to let you know soon. If I'm in a really good mood (and am promised some beer n' wings later) I may help you unload. Durden, many of my classmates live at windsor terrace as will many of your classmates... very few complaints that I've heard of! When do you move out here?

thanks for welcoming me guys. kid t. already knows a bit about me, but i'll give you guys a brief overview. first off i just watched fight club tonight for the umpteenth time (one of the best movies ever) so i thought durden (sp.) would be my new pseudonym. any way... currently i live in eau claire wi, and even more currently i am working at my job as a phlebotomist. its a bit slow at the hospital tonight and i've had some time to kill. i'll probably be moving into windsor t. on the 1st or 2nd of aug. i enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, and all other things I probably can't do much of in des moines.... oh and I can't forget about long romantic walks on the beach 😀 .truthfully though i am excited to get there and meet new people and get down to business. are either of you MSI or MSII?
i haven't quite caught up yet. well i want to write more but i guess we have a trauma coming in about 10 mins so i best get going. i look forward to talking with you guys some more soon.

Hey kid, I was talking with a friend today from hawaii who told me that they though DSM had a scarey looking ghetto... Say What!!! I think Detroit needs to start doing some ghetto tours so people know what a real ghetto is. Perhaps a pleasant bike tour of Highland Park!!!

I'll be in DSM Friday-Sunday, so call me when you get in fri or sat.

You know, it's funny - I was in Des Moines and I saw all the punks and thugs around the place. I remember laughing to myself and thinking that if any of them were in Detroit, they'd seriously be crying like bitches.
 
Hey Everyone:

I'm cruisin' the DSM "ghettos" later today to look for a cheap house to buy.

I've been in my share of nasty places and I'm wondering if I'm gonna see anything real nasty.

The only bummer is that I'm hoping the neighborhood is OK for the kiddies. I was going to hook up with those of you in town but I'm going to be hittin it pretty hard for 10-14 hours then driving straight home to Omaha.

Yup DSM = Des Moines... it's an airline designation such as SFO for San Francisco...

Anyway, swdave.... I'm sure any neighborhood here is pretty much safe for the kiddies.... Maybe I'm just naive but I've seen "not so pretty" places.... Good luck hunt housing....
