As always, I will disagree with frenchie.
Peds can be a great profession. I realize you see the same thing most days, but the hours are wonderful and the people are generally happy. parents come in and adore you b/c YOU are the one treating their kid and making them better. most of the time all they want to hear is reassurance that they are doing the right thing. I feel that i have become much better in dealing with babies and finding ways around their fear of needles (i.e. i just tell them to hate the nurse b/c she does the poking around here). I realize that line sets me up for some perverted CUM-back.
People don't hear me say i'm a med student when i walk in the door, and they call me doctor most times. it's fun to play the role finally. all you have to do is wear a kid-friendly tie and talk very quietly to kids, and MOST will cooperate. The double bonus comes with the good looking mothers.
So frenchie - Kiss my ars for saying Peds sucks. It's better than looking at jaundiced 60 year old alcoholics who smoke and seek drugs in the ICU. With this said, I don't think i want to do peds, but they do have a great hours. i go to work at 9am, have a 1.5 hour lunch break, and am always home at 5. sometimes we round at 7am and do circumcisions or newborn baby checks, but that happened only once last week.
How about PENN State. I'm happy for JO PA and the nittany lions are at least representing the Big Ten with some class and dignity. that stadium looking totally crazy with 108,000 people and loud music.
Yesterday was a good day to be a hawkeye as well.
