I am fortunate enough to have acceptances to these awesome DO schools and I’m currently making a “Pros and Cons” list for each one but having some trouble. I still have 3 scheduled MD interviews to attend but I need to pick a DO school incase I have to pay the deposit before I hear back from my first choice MD school.
Some background: I’m from So Cal so my heart tells me to stay in California close to friends and family. However, if we’re speaking strictly about the school, I felt a lot more welcomed and comfortable at DMU. KCU, on the other hand, has an impressive match list into competitive specialties and requires the absolute minimum OMM hours (which is a plus for me). WesternU is well recognized on the west coast and I hope to match into Californian residencies after med school.
All three school have their cons but I’ve accepted that all schools have their shortcomings. What worries me about WesternU is that I have friends who attended and the best they can say about their experience is “at least i’m a doctor.” lol They also changed the curriculum last year so second years are struggling to catch up on certain topic this year.
Anyway, which school would you choose and why? Much appreciated!
