4 years college, 4 years med school, intern year, 3 years of residency.

After all this, why do I have to take crap from these DNV tools?

Who are they? Who gave them any authority? Most of all, why do I have to listen to them?

One of my hospitals won't let us carry drugs in our intubation box anymore. "Against DNV policy."

I'm an MD, dammit. Not a policyologist.

This insane hyper-regulation will be the end of all of us.

😡

Where are the drugs supposed to be carried?

Where are the drugs supposed to be carried?

They must be transported by wormhole from the pharmacy to the patient's bloodstream, everyone knows that physicians who inhabit four-dimensional spacetime are a major threat to patient safety policies.

they see physicians as a threat to their "bs policy making livelihood".

The drugs were formerly in the tackle box we would carry around to codes/intubations. Apparently that's a no-no. We never had a problem before!

What is DNV? Some kind of state agency?

DNV is he newest "deeming" authority for deeming your hospital to be in compliance with the CMS conditions of participation.

Think JCAHO on steroids.

The bulk of DNV's business was and still is ISO 9001 certification for manufacturers.

JCAHO is a joke now? My experience has been that they always walk around saying how great everything is when it is not.

Don't you use some non JC accreditation agency? Who is it?

JCAHO is and has always been a joke. Typical middle management requests/ demands with no basis in real patient safety or quality improvement. Frequently theses demands are an impediment to good patient care. Always focused on things that are easy to measure (so that progress or lack thereof can be easily demonstrated) and ignoring areas where patient care should be and could be improved.

""The organization's history goes back to 1864, when the foundation was established in Norway to inspect and evaluate the technical condition of Norwegian merchant vessels."

"DNV Healthcare is the leading accreditor of US hospitals integrating ISO 9001 quality compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation."

The mantra of ISO 900x is "doing things wrong, the same way every time"

No, the drugs are not drawn up in the tackle box. We had vials of prop, sux, vec, ephedrine, phenylephrine in there, but apparently it's a big no-no.
