Do I have a shot at Columbia and Penn? Ya, it's a lame thread.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Probably not. Mean DAT AA score of ppl getting into Columbia is 22. Penn is not as high, 21, but I hear they like to see high RC scores (at least 22).

There are many other good dental schools anyway, u have good chances other places.

I'm sure you do!! Just as long as you are a well rounded student, you will be fine 😀

You definitely have a shot. A lot of posters with similar and also lower scores have gotten interviews. Averages are just averages and there are people below them

someone on the official interview thread (stickied) got an invite from UPenn with a 16. I'm surprise upenn will take RC below 17.

U definitely have a chance at Penn! I don't know much about Columbia.

You have a shot. Mean GPA for the entering class is 3.64 (somewhere near that) and AA 22.9. Just rock the interview

I disagree...I'd say you have a good shot at Columbia. I have very similar stats and received an interview from Columbia. It doesn't mean that I will be accepted, but they are obviously considering me. People fail to understand that the 22AA that Columbia puts up is an AVERAGE. Meaning some people will get in with scores both above and below that. I did one of these threads a while ago and was told I had no shot at an interview at Columbia or UaB yet I have already landed them both. Remember there are other components to your app to be considered...

This is reassuring to hear since it is from personal experience. If one were to go by numbers alone, Columbia prefers higher DAT scores over GPA while Penn is the other way around. I'd say you have a decent shot at Penn but not quite as good a chance at Columbia. You'll get in somewhere or the other, that much I can say resolutely. Good luck!

It's all up to you... you've choosen those scools with a reason. Just collect quality information and you'll be just fine 😉

Good Luck 🙂

Not to hijack this thread, but what do you guys think my chances at Columbia are?

Here are my stats.

cGPA: 3.85
sGPA: 3.80

AA: 20
TS: 21
PAT: 19

Give it to me straight. Do I have a shot at Columbia or Penn?
I'll give it straight to you. I don't know. Why? Because there is not enough information to make a decision upon... After all, it's all about being holistic, whether you like it or not.

You have a chance only if you apply, and at that point your shot is better at Penn.

If you've got the money, apply to both and try your luck.

If you only have the money for one, apply to Penn.
