Do i have a shot this cycle??

I personally think your main goal should be getting your undergrad marks as high as humanly possible, you need a higher undergrad GPA. After finishing your undergrad, I think you may want to change your focus to applying to dental school after getting a Masters. An upward trend in your undergrad with a high GPA from a Masters degree will look good - and some private schools look favorably on research. There isn't anything stopping you from applying at any time, I think most people on here are coming from a place where they wouldn't suggest spending all that money unless they thought you had a good shot. Applying after a Masters degree would be the safest in my opinion.

Good luck!

Personally, I believe that if you are going to apply, you should use your personal statement section to explain the low grades. Your DAT is decent but your GPA is off. I would apply if you have good extracurricular activity or something that distinguishes you from other Canadian applicant. Just my two cents.

Hi, just wondering what the community thinks about my chances for admission. Also, did I apply early, late, kinda early, kinda late or in between? what batch am I? Will I get interviews? will I get accepted? basically, how does it look?

Here are my stats:

Hi drbatman

I have not read through the entire thread, but I have to agree with sbesbesbe. I am a Canadian as well looking into dental schools in the states and Australia, and throughout my research it seems that your GPA is fairly low. As an international, we have the added hardship of having to be even more competitive than the local students. I also agree that you should not waste your time and money to apply with thsoe stats - consider your other options.

Also, look into how schools consider post-bac scores.. do they still consider your undergrad grades more than your masters? that is also important as it may not be too worth it to do a masters.

I'm just glad batman didn't settle for mere superhero status, he also wanted to be a dentist.

Hey guys, this thread is from 2012! I'm sure the OP knows where he/she stands by now 🙂.
