Do I include this as volunteering?

I was updating my resume and thinking of what would be on my AMCAS app.
Then I thought if I should include volunteering at my kids' schools.
Since 2008, I've got at least 250 hours.
Chaperoning on field trips, helping in class, class projects, etc...
Thanks.

It wouldn't hurt to include it. There is certainly nothing negative about volunteering at your kids' schools, it shows more depth of character, I don't see any reason to avoid talking about it. Hopefully it isn't your only volunteering experience of any kind of course 😉

I added coaching my kids sports on my app. I think it helps to show character and ability to work with many types of people. It certainly could't hurt.

Thanks for the reply.
My volunteer/intern experience right now is:
The above

Volunteer Treasurer
Florida National Guard Tallahassee, FL 04/09 – 01/10
• To provide the interface/ liaison with Commanders, Family Readiness Networks, Area Family Centers, Area Advisory Team Members as financial fund manager.

Internship
FL House of Representatives Tallahassee, FL 01/08 – 05/08
• Representative Aaron Bean, Chairman of the Health Care Council
• Performed bill tracking and analysis, legislative issue research, constituent services, maintained files, attended committee and council meetings, greeted clients and visitors

I've been in contact with two DRs from my alma mater who are on the adcom and they are going to set me up with ER volunteering and a rural health project starting in Jan.

I definitely would list that as volunteer experience. It's obvious that's something you care about (based on the amount of time you spent chaperoning, etc.) and that will likely come across as such during an interview.
