Hello,

I have currently applied for dental school starting in the Fall of 2009. I'm a Permanent U.S. Resident and will be graduating in the May of 2009 from an accredited U.S. college. Will I have to take the TOEFL?

Hi, it depends on the schools' requirements , just go to their websites and see if they require that. As far as I know, Loiusville D-school in Kentucky and Univ. of Detroit Mercy, and Univ. of Minnesota requireTOEFL. Loiusville doesn't have a substitutive requirement for that. So just apply to schools that don't require that, if you actually don't have time to take the exam. If you have time , just do it maybe IMO.🙂

I had posted a thread like this before. I heard that the test is supereasy, which gives me a reason to not take it. Also, I don't have any more money or time for TOEFL.

If you've graduated from high school in U.S., you don't need to.

For certain schools you have to. I did my high school here too, but still had to take it.

Also, do they expect you to take it before applying, or will they remind you to take it before they can move on with the application process?

minnesota and they told me to take it ASAP because they will not look at my app because it was not complete without the TOEFL score.
Remember, it takes like 4 weeks to get the scores.
What school are you applying that requires you the TOEFL?

Out of all the schools I'm applying to, only Oklahoma and Louisville mentioned it on their website

However, Oklahoma says that they will waive it if you can prove that you graduated from a U.S. high school.

I think this may be the same with Louisville, but I'm not sure.

All the other schools' websites didn't have anything about the TOEFL

i know some school like buffalo, they require you to take TOEFL if you do not have high school diploma in US

You may have to take it only if you mention that English is not your first language. I had the same situation, and got in w/o having to take it.

u must take it...if u don't have to, have u ever heard what TOEFL is?

It's like doing self- interview on the microphone, but within 1min with only 15sec prep time for u to jot down some key points u are going to address before the actual recording

Min requirement normally 75+~100+ (Depending on schools)
I believe 100+ is a good score.
110+ is outstanding score (105 was average of international student entering Gerogia Engineering school in last year, probably???)
115+ Native speakers...keke

I saw a few of Korean&American guys scored at around 115~118. The perfect score is 120, though!! Normally, they made mistake because of one or two minor grammer errors, something like that!! But, the secret is they did practice, too!!

BTW, I am talking about this just for fun! Nothing else meaning~

In fact, majority of grad schools requires over 90~100 score, as far as only TOEFL is concerned.

I think ETS made a really amazing test set! It's innovative~~~
