Is there any specific hoops that one must jump through as a DO in an ACGME surgery program for board certification. Which boards are you eligible for, ACS or ACOS, both? Do you have to take all the USMLE Steps for ACS eligibility etc? Just was warned by one of my attendings about the possiblity of not being board eligible? Never heard of this, thought someone who's been through this could opine?

On finishing an ACGME General Surgery residency program as a DO you are board eligible for the American Board of Surgery, not the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery (they have their own General Surgery programs).

To be board eligible you must have an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States or Canada. This would imlpy passing all three steps of the USMLE or all three parts of the COMLEX.
