I would like to get a thread started with feedback on the various DO internships and residencies. Unfortunately, there isn't enough written in the residency listings section of this site. Most of the feedback is provided on the ACGME accredited programs.

If you are currently doing a traditional rotating internship or one of the many AOA accredited residencies, please give a quick run-down on your program. Please include pros and cons of program, location details, program director and attending personalities, type of hospital ie: size, community or county hospital, services that you rotate in, call schedule, cap on # of admits, level of supervision, how good the teaching is etc.

This would really be helpful considering that this year's AOA match was at its lowest. I'd personally love to know some of the better programs and the ones to avoid!!!

You might want to consider going over to scutwork.com. You are asking a lot. Maybe someone in residency will have the time to answer all your questions but you really need to do a lot of legwork yourself. Afterall, it's your residency. Work hard to insure it will be the best choice for you.

I put this post out not only for myself but for others that may be looking into applying for this coming year into the AOA system. I have spent time on scutwork.com and for the most part, the assessments for the DO internships and residencies are pretty skimpy. It is asking alot but plenty of people do it for the MD residencies either from the interview trail or from current residents. There is a need for it for the AOA programs as well.
