cGPA-3.47
sGPA-3.45
MCAT-27
Shadowing experience- ~50hours
Volunteering Hours- ~200hours
Research experience- one year cancer research lab

Immigrant from Afganstian- I speak 3 different languages
paid myself through college working 40+ hr a week.

what is my chance of getting MD or Do schools?

Do you have any letters of Rec?

Volunteer work.... are they clinical or non-clinical?

I dont know much about MD, but you can get into DO.

I have 3 good letter of Rec- 1 from professor of physiology class i took, other from professor the research lab I volunteer at, and third from family doctor I shadow.
I have half clinical and other half non-clinical.
Also forgot to say I 100+ hour scribe ED.

You seem like a fit for DO. Try to get letters from DOs early and get multiple people to review your ps. Apply early and apply broadly.

DO: chances great

MD: circling the drain, unless you live in a "lucky state" like MS, LA or KS with a high preference for IS applicants.

To be safe, get the clinical volunteer experience around +250 hours. Keep that scribing job and get as much LORs as possible. It helped me with my interviews.

I would increase volunteering (clinical) and get a DO LoR to increase chances. Your GPA and MCAT are slightly above average so you are in good position for sure. Apply early and broadly. Good luck!

Whoa, there bud. If you do your research, majority of the schools are +3.5/28 MCAT across the board. Again, he gave us a very vague outlook of his stats. He states he has 3 "good" LORs. Also, his application will be dependent on how well he writes his primary and secondaries. Has OP participated in any leadership role? @mathnerd88 would have a better gauge.

Are you considered an international applicant? Are you a green card holder or US citizen? If yes, your chances are great if you apply early and broadly to most schools. I would not get too greedy and only apply only to the most established schools. Make sure you apply to newer schools too. Your MCAT is average for mid-tier and slightly better than low-tier/new schools. Your GPA is just very slightly below average for top tier, but fine for mid-tier/low tier/new schools.

Do you have any other EC's besides the research, shadowing, and volunteering? Any leadership positions?

3.4 GPA is in average range and a 27 MCAT is good for DO any way you look at it. I stand by my original post.

Nothing with this process is a sure thing, but as the wise @Goro said, your chances for DO are good, based on what you told us you'd have a strong app. MD would be a long shot without a strong IS bias
