DO: name change?

I can tell that not having the MD really bothers you. Perhaps you should have thought about your decision carefully before using the DO school as a backup to MD programs.

I cannot believe I find myself agreeing with MacGyver, but it appears to be true.

The whole name change thing to me just really smacks of inferiority complex, or feeling the need to be a household name.

Will the "euro" friends that one poster was so concerned about be any less in the dark when you tell them you are going to be an MD-O? Probably not.

I knew full well that I was going to have to do a lot of explaining in my career, but osteopathic medicine and my school were such a good fit for me that I decided the tradeoff was worth it. My work will speak for itself, I hope.

If you are going to a DO school because that's just where you got in but you still have some little reservations or insecurities in the very back of your mind somewhere, you will probably be revisiting those reservations again and again...
