Do programs actually fetch step 2 ck scores before sending interview invites?

I'm starting to think that many programs I applied to didn't bother to look at my CK score. I initially submitted ERAS on 9/15, but didn't get my CK score until 9/25, and uploaded it that day. It was 256, which I thought may get at least somebody's attention. I suspect that my application had already been tossed by the time my CK score was released.

Anyone have any insight? Thanks

Have you checked ADTS on myERAS to see if the programs have retrieved your updated USMLE transcript?

What was your step 1?

If you got screened out of their applicant pool by step 1, you may have to wait for programs to receive cancellations before the ball gets rolling for you.

They did receive the updated transcript. I wonder if that process is simply automatic, or if a human being actually sees the new information.

My step 1 was bad, a 226. I have gotten plenty of interviews as I applied very broadly. However, I just can't help but think that the 226 got me canned on day one at some places, and they weren't interested in checking back for my CK score when it was subsequently uploaded.

226 is not a dealbreaker by any means, but in my region, that would get you screened out of the top tier programs. I think you still have a shot at great training.

At the bigger name programs, they get hundreds of applications, and making a cutoff of 230 for step 1 will still get them 100 interviewers for 10 slots.

They have the info, and the software that the coordinators use has captured your data successfully. There is no need to worry that they don't have your score. You may get some more offers after a few January cancellations roll in.

I hadn't even taken Step 2 by the time I received literally all of my interviews. If you aren't comfortable, make sure you submit the scores when they're available. You might also think of dropping a line to programs you're especially interested in to let them know you're interested, and that you've submitted your step 2 scores.

Most programs have your scores (both). I suspect the majority of programs, including my own, wait until after the applications are complete (including dean's letter). Then they download all available information and decide who to interview. Most programs probably do not continuously update, but I think you were early enough because those dates are before the deans' letter, I think. We do interview people without step 2 scores.

Your step 1 score probably did get you screened at a number of places. There are literally hundreds of good candidates and it can be difficult to whittle it down to a manageable number. Your step 2 will help you once you get an interview because it shows a nice positive trend.
