barq's, which has an aftertaste like toothpaste.

A great choice-so glad you didn't say barq's, which has an aftertaste like toothpaste.

...but I'd have to say IBC (from a glass bottle) is where the root beer game is being played at the highest level.

Ok, A&W is great, especially from the tap. IBC is also a good choice, as is Henry Weinhard's. generally speaking, if its in a glass bottle, it's good to go.

What's your take on apple beer? Have you tried it?

My ranking for root beer goes like this.
Jones, Dad's, then A&W

I'm more of a Dr. Brown's type of doctor myself

Has no one ever had a Sprecher before? It's in a league of it's own

Nope. Never heard of it. Where do you find it?

Hmm... Perhaps it's not as widespread as I thought. I know you can get it in MN/WI, so anywhere in that region I suppose.

I love how my post was the genesis for a thread derailing into soda ranking. also, i dont disagree with medpr on the fact that residency matters. my statement came from my personal opinion that in every step of our educational and professional careers we are sometimes unreasonably fixated on certain things 😀

as for favorite soda..

cane sugar dr.pepper...only found in certain areas of texas because its made by a totally different company than coca cola. in fact, the company that makes it was sued by the parent dr.pepper because it was so popular outside of its allowed market locations. when people tell me that old soda made in the 70s used to taste better i now believe them.

I heard it isnt made anymore and I miss it dearly 🙁

I've heard that people in TX call soda/pop "coke". So if you ask for a "coke" in a TX restaurant, the waitress might ask you "what kind of coke?"

I think where you do residency is important because it's your opportunity to make connections with physicians and patients in that community. I also think where you do residency actually affects your job prospects in the future.

So, have you heard of a ginger ale called Vernor's? I like ginger ale, but Vernor's is good stuff. Barrel aged and all. Has a little zip to it. Hard to find, but it's originally from Michigan, just like me! 😉

Im not a native texan but yeah...coke = soda in some places

and i agree with halflistic, blue bell is the shiznit. Combine blue bell vanilla with cane sugar dr. pepper and you have a killer float. When I was out of state, my SO actually mailed 4 gallons to me and it was possibly among the top 10 moments of my life.. 😀

I have heard of Vernor's! Like you said it has quite a bit of a zip too it. I'm not a huge ginger ale fan, so I can't really give decent feedback. I have had it though!

So my Dad used to have the grocery store order extra just for him when we were not living in Michigan because it's nearly impossible to get when you live a thousand miles away. Lol

No, it's not really a question nomenclature. I just meant that dr pepper is by far my preferred pop.

You are the man! Dr p is indeed my favorite as well

I was just playfully calling you out for saying "soda pop" but MedPR already covered it 😛

I didn't say "soda pop" I just said pop.
I don't believe in calling pop "soda" or any other soda-derivative. Lol

I like dr pepper and when I'm sick of dr pepper I have some cherry dr pepper. That stuffs the shiznit!

Yeah, Dr pepper is a great ladies drink!

For myself, a regular coke or coke w/lime

😉

I've always had a theory about ladies... they love cheese and most like Dr. Pepper. Scientific fact.

I think you are getting Coke with lime (which is a drink Bond himself would sip) confused with Diet Coke with lime, which is a big time ladies drink. Big difference.

Id have to concur. Also, they love VW jettas and passats.

+1
Seriously brolostic? Coke with lime?

I drink the dr when I'm relaxing and want something smooooth. If I'm looking for more of a bite, like something to go with a heart sandwich (you know, pastrami and cappicola on sourdough...) ill grab me a nice cold, ice cold, coca cola.

Without the lime.
😉

Canada Dry all the way!

Oh and I'm sorry, if you like ginger ale then Canada Dry is NOT the way to go. At least, not after you've had Vernor's. that stuff is so good it'll seriously put some hair on your knuckles.

Ladies should avoid this drink.

I love where this thread went. You should ALL be proud of yourselves. Really. Give yourself a hand. 🙂

Ok ok ok. Men drink bourbon, end of discussion.

Every bourbon is whiskey but not ALL whiskey is bourbon. True bourbon is only made in the US as well. I was strictly talking about good ole whiskey.

Oh ok didn't know u were talking good ole whiskey. We can say gentleman drink whiskey, that way we get both included. I´m not a fan of bourbon anyways.

Recap, Dr Pepper is awesome (for my wife)

Coke is the best (adding lime is like adding class)

And the rest of you are all lushes... :meanie:

Also, D.O.'s can practice medicine per se, but must end every session with a massage...
