Getting ready to submit my primary app, but before I waste anymore money do any of you guys know:

1) What DO schools have strong instate preferences??
2) What DO schools require out of state students to pay much higher tuitions?

Thanks.

How could you have over 3,000 posts and not know this...???...

anybody know why Western has 95% in-state? That's higher than MSU - a state school.

Interesting fact at the AACOM data report... as far as raw number of applicants, every single school experienced an increase (most a significant increase) in applicants from the 04-05 year to 05-06 with only one exception: LECOM-Bradenton. Their applicant numbers not only declined, but did so by a significant percentage.

Any theories?

edit- crap, read the footnote after I posted. LECOM reported combined numbers for their two campuses in 2004.

While that % is high, California is one of the hardest states to into as a resident. While Western isn't state funded, I guess they feel a need to provide another option for Cali residents?

If you look at the next year, or previous one, I dont remember which, you will see a completely different breakdown, more 50/50. It was just a fluke that year.

That's good to know.

BC this is the first time I m applying...whats so fishy about asking what schools have strong instate preferences? I dont want to waste primary and secondary money to later find out that the school doesnt really take out of staters anyway.

P.S. I am a Cali resident.

What seems somewhat fishy is that you joined SDN six years ago, you have posted on SDN over 3600 times, and you are asking a question that one who has been on the boards so long should either a) know the answer to or, b) know where to look to get the answer. You have to admit ... that's a pretty lengthy and extensive history with SDN for someone who is "applying for the first time."

I registered here my senior year in high school. I don't have a high post count just because I don't post often. I don't understand why people would even mention his post count vs. his question considering his question is one that will be helpful to a good amount of future applicants. I'm going to be a junior in college now, I don't plan to apply as soon as I am done graduating either, so the 6 year mark definitely isn't something to raise eye brows about. I just showered and it's 5.30am and I have nothing else to do, or else I wouldn't even take the time out to reply to these posts that do nothing but disrupt the purpose of the thread (something I am contributing to unfortunately, apologies to the OP). 😳

It's fishy because of inconsistencies within your posts.

Additionally, this is not the OP's first time applying or at least it's extremely unlikely. Why are you saying this is your first application? You can't act like a newbie when you have 3600+ posts! Just tell them your too busy to search SDN to find your answers and you need people to give them to you. Or, whatever . . .

Lol, you people are too much sometimes.

Very mature. If you want to represent yourself as a medical student in one forum and a pre-med in the next, so be it. I suggested you were dishonest about this being your "first" application, and it only took a two minute search to verify.
