Do the Schools have access

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do the schools have access to where else you're applying?

They should not. If anything, they might ask, during your interview, to where else you've applied, but I believe nothing is to stop you from lying, if you wish to.

NECO asks directly on the application as a required question

they dont???? really? i applied to 17 schools and I have no way to justify that other than my low grades. LOL

I don't know if they have access on your app, but they will probably ask during an interview. I don't really see why it even matters.

do they have access to the other essays written on the optomcas to other schools. im applying to 5 schools. basically i kept the essays the same just changed the last paragraph of each essay saying why i wanna go to that particular school.

No, they cannot see the other essays.

thank god! Cause I would have a hard time to come up with an excuse to justify why I applied to 9 Skools

How much money did you spent? Also my friend with the 2.53 GPA applied to 17 USA schools 2 Canada schools, and IAUPR. He got 19 rejections without interview.

Do know if he applied very late during the cycle? Not that I have 2.5 but when you apply during the cycle really affects your chanes of getting an interview

but if you lie and this is not true ur ****ed?

LOL.. From what everyone else is saying I don't think the schools can have access to how many schools you applied to so I'm definitely not guna mention how I applied to IAUPR..

how do you know for sure though? i dont want to lie about it and then have them find out and reject me.

what if they asked me why?

Well in your case, being that you applied to a lot of schools because of your poor grades, just be honest and tell them that's why you did.

Honestly, I think that will be the least of your worries, assuming that you get interviews.

but its a closed file interview, you're not supposed to mention your grades

He applied in April 2011, got 1 interview in June 2011, entered IAUPR September 2011.

Note: An interview invitation is not an acceptance. You can rub it in everyone's face if you get in. If you do, it won't be because you earned it.

huh? if I get in then doesnt that mean I earned it? Oh I guess someone wrote my essays for me took the OAT and flew to PHL and interviewed. sounds about right.

since you care so much about the oversupply problem, why dont you just drop out of optometry school. you'll be freeing up your spot for people who actually care. once you get in you think you're untouchable.

I think this person is mad/jealous.

Not to interrupt in your guys convo, but why can't you be a little more supportive? I mean, everyone goes through struggles and i thought this forum was suppose to help people and encourage them and tell them that they aren't going to fail in the future, so why must you bring others down?
If optohopeful123 gets in, then its' definitely because they earned it and the admission team realized that there's something this person can bring to school.

I say, Good Luck optohopeful123! I'm sure you can do it and just think positive. Don't let people who doesn't have anything nice to say affect you. You got an interview, that means you're one step closer to your dreams =] keep striving!

I agree!!! Keep doing your thing and focus on what u have to do and don't let the negativity get to u. 🙂

I'm not sure whether you're serious, but, if you are, I think your doing so was a tremendous waste of money. (On the other hand, it doesn't really matter what I think, here, so, whatever.)

Anyway, again, no, to my knowledge, schools do not get to see where or to how many other colleges you've applied; thus, even if they ask, they've no way of verifying the veracity of your answer.

yeah I already submitted jul 26, mailed/processed aug 19th. I have 2.63/310aa300ts

No offense — I happily admit not every important aspect of an applicant can be gleaned from just his G.P.A. and his O.A.T. scores — but I don't believe, in a general case, a 2.63 grade-point average should get a person admitted into an O.D. program.

Congratulations on your interview at P.C.O. I of course think if you're accepted, it will be because you've "earned it" (what else might it be?), but I don't think it's good news that an optometry college would — unless, again, there are significant factors not evident in the numbers you've shared with us — wish to interview a candidate with a mid-2s G.P.A. and an O.A.T. score of 300/310, T.S./A.A.

I think nicmc is just having a bad day 😉 don't mind them.. move along

You've earned it, I wasn't being sarcastic. That was encouragement in my post up there!
