Do these schools look in the right range for my scores?

Hi everyone!

I'm making up a list of schools to apply to, but I'm a little lost as to if I'm applying to too many reaches or something. I've already used the formula for calculating my range. My GPA is going to be over a 3.5 after this semester, and my sGPA will probably be around a 3.4. I have 57 shadowing hours, mostly with a general dentist but some specialists as well. I am the president of my sorority at a very large research university and have worked in research since my freshman year (I am published as well). My DAT scores are 21AA 21TS 21PAT 19QR 23RC.

Here's the list:
Temple
Pitt
Boston University
Creighton
Louisville
Roseman
Tennessee
Minnesota (dream school)
Western
Maryland (maybe)

Tell me what you think! Thanks so much!

Are you from Tennessee or Arkansas? b/c they don't really take a lot of OOS applicants.

can you increase your shadowing hours to more than a 100?

Yeah definitely increase your shadowing hrs to at least 100. But I think you have a decent shot at most of these schools.

Increase your shadowing hours and I think you have a shot at these schools except for Tennessee. Unless you are a Tennessee or Arkansas resident, it is pretty tough to get admitted to Tennessee

I'd add Maryland, they're particularly oos friendly

Is it going to look awful if I do the rest of my shadowing hours after this semester (and right before I apply?). That's pretty much the only time I have to do it, since I'm so busy already. Thanks for your input everyone!

Shadowing is shadowing no matter what time you do it. The alternative is to not shadow and that is a worse option.

I would add NYU. It has more seats than any other schools. Expensive to live, but fun place to live too.

Minnesota is pretty OOS friendly, because of the OOS price tag. They seem to be really service oriented (as is Creighton), so getting some service racked up will be a benefit to you

I will be attending Minnesota this fall. I applied with very similar ecs . I was involved with a social fraternity and had a research publication. Let me know if you have any questions.

Shadowing is overrated..57 hrs is plenty. Shadowing more does not make you a better candidate, the point is so that you know what you're getting into. People have been accepted with zero shadowing.

are you a troll?

You know there are several schools with shadowing minimums, right?

If you can sell yourself with research, Pitt should be well in your range. Good luck.

Just an update, I got a 4.0 my latest semester (yeah!). So I'll be adding a couple of stretches to my list just for ****s and gigs. Here's what I have now:

Indiana
Iowa
UPenn
Columbia
Oregon Health Science University
Michigan
Case Western

Let me know what you think!
