Someone told me that if you have a pre Dec. interview at Maryland (and are a resident of Maryland) it means that they are very interested in you, and you will probably get accepted. Anyone else heard anything along those lines?

so... 17 people have looked at this, and nobody has responded.

doc toothache has a thread regarding pre-dec and post-dec interview statistics.

I think Maryland is one of the schools that doesn't give any stats on that. Thanks, I will check it again though! Kinda freekin. Its the only interview i had so far.

I'm sure an interview in general means that they are very interested in you. At the least they spend $10 on you for lunch.

Doc's links give no significant information about Maryland. Guess you'll find out soon enough. Good luck

Dude relax, maybe those people who viewed it didnt know the answer....

And why are you even asking this, you will be finding out in ~4 days....

Good Luck though

agree with above poster, try to relax and be more polite when asking a question. people here on SDN are usually good at helping others no need for additional comment

i didn't get an interview from maryland so i donno what you could have heard. only source i have is ADEA Guide to dental school and Predents. ADEA Guide does not show interviewed numbers (like doc. toothaches, they do not release interviewed numbers) but predent has number similar to most schools.
also 2 years ago, 2800 applicants applied there and only 130 were enrolled. i'm guessing they probably interview about the same numbers as other schools b/c those numbers above are very similar to most other schools. i have never heard anything special about UMaryland's interview/acceptance ratio before.

good luck

i certainly did not mean to come off sounding impolite, that was not my intention. i see though how it could have been interpreted that way, sorry. i knew people were looking at the post, and as i said, i am freaking out. thanks for all the support!

Obviously a pre-dec 1 interview is better than a post one. Does it mean you will "probably get accepted?" Not necessarily. If you had a good interview, then odds are in your favor.

Chill out and wait a few days. You will know your fate then.

Hup

I think Maryland interviews every in-state applicant. So a pre-Dec interview might just imply that you had your application in early. Whatever the case, good luck and let us know how it turns out! :xf:
