Do you think this MDapplicant is real??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think he meant +400, not +4000 hours, otherwise he'd have been stupid not to be running his own research operation and getting patents. 4000 hours is also two years of full-time work.....

Lol, in general I question the validity of the mdapplicant quotes. I am sure most people are genuinely honest, but I am also sure that there are people who fudge their numbers. Although I have never used it so I am probably not the most qualified person to comment.

yeah............but why on earth would you fudge your numbers for a silly site???

because one might be silly enough to believe they may be revered by a bunch of anonymous pre-meds and somehow may be validated...

I am not saying all do this, I just feel bad for those who take all the stats they see on SDN at face value, especially if their stats are far eclipsed by those in question

Actually, he might have been "rejected" by all of those schools because his profile is relatively old (remember how the default option for mdapplicants.com used to be rejected before the site was reformatted?).

I guess he meant 4000+ hours including ALL of his ECs. 4000 hrs. on research alone isn't impressive. It's depressing. I would feel bad for this kid if that was what he meant. Imagine spending your whole 4 years of college isolated in some lab. Also, he said he was Canadian, so he's an international applicant which makes it an uphill battle.

I think MD app's, as well as here on SDN, has a lot of peeps who overinflate their stats. As for the guy with the various patents and whatnot, I don't think he is telling the whole truth. My suggestion: me, him, dark alley, and a rubber hose. I'll write him an Rx for whoop a s s

Why would anyone reject this guy?

Do some of the lower tier schools reject outstanding applicants because they know that the student will get into a better school and never look back?

That's Cooper. Some of the highest stats ever reported, eh? But he did get two full rides at great schools.

As I've been learning, the process is pretty political. Some of the hoity-toity Ivy League type schools do reject lots of high-stat, well-rounded applicants for unknown reasons.

if this is real, then i'm in serious trouble

he was rejected post secondary. he has to be a goddamned tool or a liar or an ex-axe-murderer, but it's very refreshing to see this isn't all a numbers game! cuz some of *us* would be in serious trouble.

on a related note, iw as talking to someone who told me that the all india institute of medical sciences allows *15* people into their class, from god knows how many indian applicants, and it's all based on 1 test. lots of them come to harvard school of public health after getting their md's, and since my roomies are students there, i got to meet some of these genius docs. jesus, how many ways can you say tool? the american system works guys, and this is more proof! 👍

2 United States Patents approved for new therapy for Congestive Heart Failure

Jesus Christ... 😱 😱

Just for the sake of my sanity, i hope this guy is a fake..but it looks like this guy DOES exist from what the sdn folks have claimed above...

..someone remind me again why i'm even bothering applying to med school.. 😕

I think it's harder to get in here if you don't have a green card-- and he wrote next to his toronto acceptance "home sweet home". Perhaps that partially explains it....

i thought that meant that was were he decided to matriculate...

He's Canadian. Some of the schools he applied for only accepts Canadian students.

Setting the matter of this particular applicant aside though, I've noticed enough arbitrariness in the admissions process to be unsettled. I'm not going to complain, but the process can sometimes be unfair.

The original profile mentioned said he got rejected from Harvard in January. Does Harvard disperse decisions that early? I thought Harvard was in the same format as Duke, Yale, etc. with spring notification...

people, he was an august MCATer...the schools he got rejected from without an interview are really good schools, but i'm almost positive he would have at least got a few interviews at some of those schools if his app had been complete in july/august rather than november...makes a big difference.

Oooh, how deliciously coy.

I'd rather be kind of intelligent and able to communicate with others. NOT that all geniuses have sticks up their butts--only the ones at my UM interview.

Oh wait, this guy sounds like a friend of mine's friend. Not only undergrad school he went to and schools he got rejected matches, I know he goes to Univ. of Toronto now, which is a very good school. (he was an international student and you guys know how tough it is for them)
