I am an International Medical Student, and I was just wondering how US med students took their exams. Do you have exams at the end of each year of medical school, and do you write your answers on a paper the traditional way or do you type? Also, do you have to write/type essays and detailed answers on your exams or is it just multiple-choice type questions? Just curious.

Yes.

Completely depends on the school and class. I've had written/paper exams with essays, and mc computer based (majority).

I usually find the mc more difficult. I have a harder time not choosing a more wrong answer than just coming up with it.

When you know enough, the fill in the blank/written exam is essentially mc anyway

Anatomy practicals were short answer written. Some pharm questions were written. A couple were ochem rxns we had to draw out. Everything else is multiple choice.
