Hypocondria runs in my family and I got a bit of it. It's never been a real issue, but, considering my career choice, the irony is strong. This got me thinking, does anyone know of any doctors or medical students (excluding med students' disease) in a similar position? Thanks!

I've never really understood this term. Low cartilage? How does that equate to the common definition of hypochondria?
I was actually wondering this myself. The term comes from a doctor in the 16th century. He noticed that patients complaining of pain in the abdomen generally had nothing wrong with them. The site of their "pain" is why it's called hypochondria

OP - once you learn about mosiacism in school you will never be able to sleep well again.
Being composed of two different cell types?

Also, I doubt I'll have any actual problems. My research is on neoplastic meningitis (scariest thing) and I have shadowed and will be interning (summer) with palliative care. If those two things haven't caused me any problems, I doubt anything will.

I thought it would trip you out.

"I'm kinda tall... What if I am a mosiac for marfans??? :nailbiting:"

I could see medical school being a good thing for a hypochondriac. Once you learn the heart murmurs and can distinguish paradoxical from physiologic S2 splitting you will certainly feel better about your cardiovascular health. Other such examples abound.

That's been my experience with cancer research.
