Does a MBA help?

Hi, I graduated undergrad in 2006 with BS in Health Sciene and Management/Org Behavior. My science GPA is 2.6 not including Math. My overall GPA is 3.34. I completed a 2 year MBA program in 1 year and graduated this past June with a GPA of 3.8. I have not taken the PCAT yet. I have pharmaceutical experience in the corporate setting as well as clinical pharmacy for 8 years. I have realized that Pharmacy is my true passion and I really want to pursue this career. I understand that my science gpa is not as high as needed, however that was a while back and I have matured and proved that I can handle gradatue coursework. I did read another thread on applying early and I will take that into consideration. What do you think my chances are? And do schools look at Masters degrees or only undergrad?

Careful there dear whippersnapper! You do not have any "clinical" pharmacy experience. You may have worked as a tech somewhere that does clinical but don't confuse the two. It would be likely that you would piss quite a few people off with that comment.

Your stats arn't bad. Not great either but what you will need to do is score high on the PCAT. (>85) This will show that you are not as deficient in your sciences as your grades show. If you can't hack the pcat the first time around...study and retake it. Think about obtaining a BA degree in Bio or Chem and show you want to get into school. Your masters degree will be looked upon favorably depending on where you received it at. Where did you get your MBA from? All schools look at your educational experience, undergrad masters or PhD and take it into account. I had a Ph.D in my class!

Thanks for your help. I did mean that I was a Pharm Tech in a clincal pharmacy setting. Didnt mean to piss anyone off. My MBA-Healh Administration Concentration was at Benedictine University in Lisle IL. Benedictine also has a dual acceptance program with Midwestern University for pharmacy. That is from high school. I was looking into that school considerably. I have never taken the PCATs do you think a course such as Kaplan helps?

I was just wondering how u completed the MBA course in 1 year?? I am still a sophomore in college and trying to take some foundations MBA courses.......no matter what I really want to get my MBA. Please let me know. Thanks

I had completed my BS in Health Science as well as Business Administration from Benedictine University. Benedictine also has a great Graduate School, so I applied for the MBA-Health Administration program there as well. Benedictine offers their undergraduate graduates an option on get up to 12 credits waived based on undergrad business coursework. If you receive a B average in both accounting 1 and2, econ 1 and 2, stats 1 and 2, organizational behavior you dont have to take the first level of accounting, econ, stats or org behavior during the MBA program. So that takes away 4 classes. Now I have to mention I also took 4 classes at a time. My university offered online courses also so i mixed it up. I took one or two classes online and then two nights a week I went in for class. So it is a full courseload. I also worked full time...so it was very hectic. So if you are good at multitasking, and working well under stress or pressue I would say look for a program like this. I hoped this helped but if you have any more questions I would love to help out.

Thanks Carshop for all your help!!! I will see what my University have to offer me b/c next semester I am planning to take a Marketing class and hopefully its fun and interesting.🙂
