Does anyone know exactly how AADSAS averages retakes?

When I started school in 2010, I got 3 C's (9 credits total). I figured things out and have averaged a 3.9 ever since (about 110 credits later). I retook those classes and got A's. At my university, a retaken class replaces the first grade, so my GPA is pretty high, but I know that AADSAS does some type of average of the retaken classes. So according to my calculations, those 3 C's from 6+ years ago will end up pulling my overall GPA from a 3.9 to about a 3.67. Just so I can know for sure, does anyone know the exact method that AADSAS uses calculate GPA with retaken classes? Do they they take both grades or just the average? (For example: 9 credits of C's and 9 credits of A's, or just 9 credits of B's)

Retakes get factored in just like any other course would. Basically, if you took your transcript (where the original grades were edited out) and put the originals back in, your new gpa would be what AADSAS would generate.

A C + A = (2.0 + 4.0)/2 = 3.0 = B-

So just to clarify, the 3 classes would count as 18 credits? (9 for the first attempt and 9 for the second)? Cause when you retake a class, you don't get more credit, you just replace your old grades. That makes a difference GPA-wise. If they counted my 9 of C's AND my 9 of A's, I end up with a 3.67 overall. If they counted the average (3.0) towards 9 credits (the actual amount that I ended up earning) I end up with a 3.74 overall.

It's not a huge deal, I'm just curious and nit-picky haha. My sGPA is a bit higher than my overall, so I'm sure I'll be fine.

Yes, they would count for 18 credits. It would be as if you took 6 different classes.
