Metalloproteases - break down extracellular matrix, mediates invasion from site-to-site, also used by tumors to metastasize

TNF - Fever, shock, cachexia...etc. This is part of the host response to infection. Fever increases the host immunologic response and inhibits bacterial replication...no bacteria, to my knowledge, has the capability to synthesize any of the chemo/cyto/lymphokines.

Streptolysin S(oxygen stable) and O(oxygen labile) are similar to staphylococcal leukicidin and hemolysins, and cause beta hemolysis of RBCs and WBCs

Metalloproteases mediate tissue invasion(following inoculation) allowing the organism to spread along the fascial border...myositis is possible if the infection persists. Streptolysins enable the bacteria to evade the immune respones. These two toxins, therefore, have a synergistic effect in necrotizing fasciitis.
