getting circumcised later in life. i'm not going to say my age, but i'm between 18 and 25. how much does it hurt? people have told me that there's alot of pain involved for a few days after it's done.

i've sent a couple of guys in that age group for the procedure, for a medical reason, and yeah...it hurts. fortunately, it's epithelium in a high turnover area, which means that healing can be pretty quick (provided you have a healthy immune system).

after the procedure, the head of your penis is wrapped in petrolatum dressing (a gauze pad soaked in Vaseline). you keep it on for about 24 hours, then they have you take it off and encourage you not to have any erections, or wear any underwear for a couple of weeks. the erection part is the toughest - i mean, we bone up for NO REASON most of the time 😉

the more important question about circumcision, however, is why are you doing it? (more rhetorrical than geared at the OP). There is really only one medical reason I know of, and that's phimosis (a painful tightening of the foreskin, freqeuently leading to episodes of balanitis, or inflammation of the penile head). Otherwise most circumcisions are done for religious reasons. Personally, I think we're born with the turtleneck sweater for a reason, so I have discouraged more men from the procedure, than referred.

my purpose is because my sex life is deprived. my girlfriend wants me to, because she tells me that it doesn't feel right on the girl's end. and i've been with her for 4 years, and i think i might marry her after college. i want to give her something as special as she's given me.

i have never heard of it feeling different circ'd vs no circ...but i'm a guy, what do i know?

a full erection will cause the skin to go back and so it shouldn't feel very different (at least in theory) on the receiving end. i have heard from many female friends that they usually can't tell whether a guy is circumcised or not when he has a good stiffy. i assume you guys tried different positions to see if that alleviated the discomfort.... lubricants? does she note a difference when you wear a condom vs. not? (if that is something you guys do)

the feedback from my patients has been mixed. some regretted their decision. others are happy. some have mild chronic penile pain... others are lovin' life. it's hard to predict. surgery is surgery, and there are always risks (even with young healthy folks) and a circ may not be the answer or solution to a "deprived" sex life.

I'm not sure it's the sexual intercourse his girlfriend may have a problem with, as much as other intimate sexual practices...Also, perhaps it's more psychological than physical...Honestly, I have never been with an uncircumcised man, yet the thought is slightly less desireable than what the "American" society considers the norm. So, maybe the sight of a circumcised penis is more appealing for some women (and men, not that there's anything wrong with that)...

orgasm from coitus is only experienced in 20% of women vs 85% w/ clitoral stimulation (according to those "big" Masters studies in the 70s).... and the nerve endings of the vagina don't respond to friction: they are primarily stretch receptors (so the thicker the better)... and her cervix can't tell the difference either as its 2point discrimination is ridiculous - it can only experience dull pushing (or intense pain if grabbed with a tenaculum 🙁)

your girlfriends issues have more to do w/ psych than physiology bro... how do billions of women around the world get pleasure by uncircumcized guys???? remember this is primarily an american thing and jewish... most europeans/asians/south americans are not circ'ed.

i wouldn't get it done if i were you - unless you are trading surgical procedures (IE: she gets a boob job or whatever and you get your turtleneck lopped off) - you are exposing yourself to potential complications that could be way more ugly to your girlfriend - god forbid you get a bad infection and end up w/ a penectomy - you heard right... actually took care of a 22 yr old who know pees sitting down w/ balls hanging and no schlong

Have you ever considered that the problem may not be the foreskin? Perhaps it's something else.... anatomical?
