Does it look bad to use AP credit to cover the 2 semester english requirement?

I have AP credit for both AP Lang and Lit, and was planning on using the credit instead of taking English at the college level. If I do this, is it recommended that I take other English classes (such as higher level English)? English has always been a strength of mine and I don't really see the point in wasting time on classes I don't need, however if it would hurt my application in any way I would rather just take it to be safe. Also, how many schools have an english requirement?

Several schools will not accept AP credit for English. Your best bet is to make a list of where you think you think you'll apply and check out their requirements on the website of each individual school.

I'm in the same boat as you (for lots of classes) and decided not to use any of my AP credit. Many schools don't accept AP credit for different courses and so to keep my options open I opted not to use it at all.

Check requirements, most require two semesters of college English that can't be substituted w/ AP credits. I was in the same boat as you, but decided to take the more interesting English courses offered at my University like European Literature & Literature through lyrics.

I'm taking English right now to make up for the fact that I have AP English. I ended up with a class about Film and Culture - we watch a movie during class. Many schools require upper level English if you already have AP credit, so pick something you enjoy.

Here is a PDF from 2 years ago summarizing each med school's policy in regards to AP credit. Maybe you can find a more recent one: https://www.cc-seas.columbia.edu/si...CHOOL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS_June_2015 V3.pdf
