This isn't a section I normally visit but here's my advice:

If there was a special reason you didn't do well (stomach flu that day, panic attack, hadn't taken the prereq classes, or studied for only 6 hours, something like that) then you might be better off taking it again and trying to stay in North America. I think most people agree that it is worth the extra year or so to stay in the regular system.

If you did all the prep work and honestly did your best but got a caribbean-worthy score nonetheless (i.e. under 28), then you might want to go with your instinct. (There are piles of other threads in this forum that talk about the challenges of being an IMG, and they sum up to: it's more challenging, but it is possible. Read them instead of asking this here, you'll spare a lot of people a lot of unnecessary typing.)

If you did all the work as in scenario 2 and got something truly dismal (under 20?) you may want to question your ability to get through medical school successfully.

That's probably why McGillGrad asked what you got. The short answer to your thread question is "barring special circumstances, yes".

Good luck.

p.s. thread hijack - why did Ross start sending me advertising (email, snail mail) as soon as I wrote the MCAT? I would have thought that my score would make them realize I wasn't looking to go international...
