Does taking a gap year to work (not med related) hurt your chances when reapplying to an MD program?

I'm not the best example since I've only received two interview invites so far, but I took two gap years to work. I worked for a year as a chemist, then did a Masters for a year, then took this current gap year to apply to medical school while working as a chemist again.

I think it depends on what you work in, whether you did well enough as an undergraduate, and your MCAT score still just like a traditional applicant.

Long story short, I don't think it hurts your chances by much.

No. What matters more is that you improved on whatever deficiencies led to you not being accepted in the first place - grades, service hours, etc. If you're simply the same application but with a year's worth of job experience you're likely to encounter the same results.
