I'm looking into working with disabled students at my university in helping disabled students academically and socially assimilate into college, would that count as clinical work? I feel that disabled individuals are very underserved in my community and I would love to have the chance to work at making life a little better for them while also getting some hours for med school. What do you think? It would be about 5 hours a week for an entire semester.

It's not clinical unless the disabled individuals are patients in a hospital/nursing home. But service to the underserved is great experience anyways. Do it however many hours you can per week but for several months/years (longevity is better than quantity)

Not sure what @LizzyM and @Goro would say, but to me, this is not a clinical setting, and the students are not patients. So this is not a clinical experience.

That said, it’s a good nonclinical experience, and you should do it.

I agree; just because they're disabled doesn't mean that they're patients. It's a very nice non-clinical EC

Thanks for the answers. I need volunteering anyway so I think I'll still do it and just look for something else for clinical experience.

Doesn't matter-- just do it. Sounds like a great opportunity and will definitely make you a better provider in the future.
