I got an opportunity to go to the ICU during the morning rounds and "shadow" morning rounds. There's an attending physician, residents, and some MS3s. I basically just follow them around while listening as they go to each bed and discuss among themselves a full overview of each patient.
I am only allowed to shadow during rounds and cannot follow the physician around afterwards, so does being present during rounds with the attending count as shadowing for MD schools?

IF YES,
I am probably going to get about 15-20 hours (5-6 days) of this, all rounds. Is this enough for this area of shadowing, or should I get some more, or is this too much for just rounds?
[I am also going to shadow other specialties in the future, regardless]

Don't be so concerned as to whether it will necessarily "count" for medical school.

Regardless as to whether you are actually "shadowing" a practicing physician or not, you are still gaining clinical experience and observing physicians as they go about their day. This is a good opportunity for you and I would continue this as much as you can (so long as availability allows).

The main point is, you are participating in something that will help you in the long run, gaining clinical experience and exposing yourself to the medical field; which is exactly what medical schools like to see in prospective applicants.
