Well, after weeks of waiting to see what UCSF is doing with my application, I received a rejection letter in the mail today.

This "was" one of my top choices 🙁 .

Sorry @ your pain, bruinmojo. Did you take the mcat this Aug? I'm getting nervous since Aug scores have come out. Well, fingers crossed for the other UC's.

Did they ever update your status on their website with the rejection?

Sorry to hear it. I'm expecting that same letter any day now. 🙁

Btw, bruinmojo

You've gotten some interviews already, right? How were the ones you've finished? Just keep your chin up, and focus on the positives. Hey, as an aug mcater, I'm haven't even received any interviews yet. The agony of waiting has just started.

actually, no. They don't even bother updating your status page. Guess they figure a formal letter would be more appropriate. I finally received this after they received my application 8 weeks ago.

I actually took the MCAT in April 2001. So I guess the good thing is that you get these letters earlier in the game.

I actually just came back from Univ. of Miami and BU. I think they went well, and I was fond of each school for different reasons.

I always keep my expectations low so I'm not too disturbed by it. This was just my first "top choice" school to be rejected from. Hopefully, i'll hear some good news later in the week.

good luck to you too Nefertari (and other SDNers).

Hey bruinmojo, really sincerely sorry to hear about the rejection letter!! UCSF is also top of my list by a long way and they have not requested a 2ndary and they've had it more than 10 weeks....so it's not definite yet for me but it's not looking good either....just trying to say 'i understand"!

Good luck with the rest of the application cycle. I know you'll get in somewhere, and i'm sure you'll end up happy wherever it is 🙂

Hey, I feel your pain. I got the same stinkin thin envelope too. I am starting to think the CA schools don't like me very much. 🙁

Congrats on the early interviews @ Miami & BU! If you have time, can you describe your impressions of BU--it seemed as though they had BIG attitude last year. Has that changed? Don't let the ucsf letter kill your hope. 😉

Sorry for you. 🙁 Those of us who recieved those thin, impersonal letters or the very impersonal emails of rejection feel your pain.Hey, life goes on.

Brush yourself off and keep on going.

Sigh... yes i got that letter today too... and knew what it was right away because of SDN.... hahahaa.... I guess being on SDN will help prepare me for some of these rejections. SUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKS! But oh well.... their loss (or at least that is how I'm trying to make myself feel better).

Bruinmojo, sorry to hear about your letter from UCSF. The best thing you could have done is set your expectations low. that goes for anything in life, I have spent about 3 years of my life while in military getting a Business Degree, thinking I was going to get a great job out of the service which should have paid double what I was making while in. So I got out last year when the job market was so grim it made the 20's seem like a prosporuous times. So Here I am, pursuing my Pre med and hopefully getting excepted anywhere. But the big difference now is that I set my expectations low so i don't get bumned out like I did leaving the service. Who knows, and you probably heard this many times. It probably happened for a good reason, God Bless.
