Thanks for sharing @OTCrazyCassie! I can see why you were granted an interview because you have solid stats. But, I'm sorry to hear that you were rejected.. Did SamMer tell you why? And, did you apply anywhere else?
Thank you guys
@futureOTsj I'm not sure why I got rejected from SMU but I think it's because my GPA? (TBH i'm pretty happy with mine but I guess compared to the other applicants it was on the shttier side) I did not apply to anywhere else, I'm going to reapply to many more places next year if I do not get into any other schools
@amyOTpeds yeah I def have my GRE to thank.. your last 60 gpa is awesome! Chin up, from what I hear DOM looks at more than just numbers.
From my understanding, they are waiting for people to accept the interview by March 6th and they said in my email if I do not accept they will give my spot to someone else. So I'm going to assume that they sent out some interviews and are waiting to see who will accept and for those who don't, they will be sending out more interviews.

I took physiology and got a B. I am in anatomy and ceramics currently.@Kky151 were you done with all your prereqs when you applied, or are you currently finishing up any? What were your grades in A&P if you dont mind me asking. Thank you.
Hi there,I did accept it!
Are you currently an OT student at Dominican University? If so, do you mind sharing your experience there? And providing a little more about the program other than the generic stuff I've been reading online? I'd love to hear from a current student. I have an interview on the 21st and I'm really excited (and nervous) for it! Any information from you would be so helpful and very much appreciated...
Thank you in advance! 🙂
Hi there,Hello all~ I had my interview with morning at Dominican University. I hope that you all did well for those of you that attended! Looking forward to the next big date April 15!
Hopefully you rocked the interview and an OT student at Dominican now! I was just wondering, can you briefly share with me your interview experience there at Dominican? I have an interview on the 21st and not sure what to expect other than it being a group interview. Example how long the entire interview process is? I know it's unethical to ask you the exact questions they asked you during the interview but a general idea of what they might ask would give give me a better idea on how I should prep for it.
Any help or advice would be fantastic and much MUCH appreciated...thank you in advance!
Got a letter from Dominican today, postmarked 3/10/15 that I was denied for admission.. 🙁
Yes @amyOTpeds it was via mail... I hoped so too. That someone declined their interview...

Nope. I only applied to 6 schools, Im also a 3rd year, so it was kind of rushed. But I think Ill apply to a lot more schools this coming cycle. If seton hall denies me, then as soon as I find out I'm starting on the application process again, and this time getting in everything in as soon as I can. Applying early is key, at least thats what everyone tells me.
Hi! I am currently a first year MSOT student at Dominican and was in your shoes about a year ago! First off, congrats to everyone who made it to the interview portion! To answer your question regarding interview structure, the interviews are about 45 minutes long and you'll typically be with two other interviewees and two of the Dominican faculty will be asking interview questions. Each candidate gets a chance to answer each question and everyone takes turns who gets asked the question first. As for topics you should prepare yourself for: why you think OT would be a good fit for you, why is Dominican the best choice for you, etc. I know these are broad but they are typical of any OT interview. Just remember to relax and really think about your answers. Even if you're asked the question first, they'll give you a bit of time to think about your answer. The faculty are super nice and understand that interviewing is a nerve-wracking process! Some of the first year students will be there to answer your questions before the interview and hopefully help calm your nerves. I'll be there in the morning on the 21st! Hopefully this helps and good luck!Hi there,

I am in the same boat as you. Already in a gre prep class to retake that and starting more hours. Planning to be submitted and verified by september. Good luck to you next round!Nope. This is your 3rd year applying too? I wonder if retaking things like that really make a difference. I brought up my gpa but it seems like I'm still not good enough. I even got more experience and shadowed in different settings but I'm still not good enough.. I mean I don't have like 1,000 hours or anything but I just feel like my small strides in the right direction mean nothing to them. It's hard because you could be doing all this and spending all that money for nothing. :/
The was my first year applying. I know this is what I really want to do so I'm going to try really hard to improve everything. All the Ots I work with have told me I would make a great therapist and not to give up. You can't give up on something you really want, I believe.

Thank you so much for responding to my post! I was unhopeful that a current OT student would have the time to check out this forum and reply! Your response alone really took a load off...thank you! And thank you so much for giving me a better idea about the structure of the interview. Group interviews are super intimidating and this will be my first so I didn't know what to expect. But what you've shared about the process doesn't seem too bad at all! I got a chance to visit the campus on Wednesday afternoon and sat down at the bench area near the OT building to enjoy the sun. But not long after, Dr. Ramsey (I believe) "kicked" me out from my spot to hold her health management class there...(so embarrassing..lol). But I thought that was really cool how she allowed the students to learn and listen to her lecture outside in the gorgeous weather...is that typical?? I'll be there on the 21st so hopefully I'll see you there! I'll ask around for a first year student named Michelle 🙂
Also...do you mind sharing your experience in the MSOT program thus far? What do you enjoy the most? Is the program as challenging as you thought? Is it worse than you thought??
Thanks again for your response!!!
I have just received phone call from Ryan that I have been accepted!
Plz let me know if you guys have heard anything I'm going to have to look for housing and such!

I don't, either, but hear that it's cheaper to rent a house with a few people.

You'll know for sure by April 15th because that is the date that everyone is supposed to confirm if they want to attend or not!
Does anyone know if Sausalito is a nice place to live? I'm considering that area because I want to live near the City as well!
I don't, either, but hear that it's cheaper to rent a house with a few people.
I'm looking for housing as well 🙂 I have friend that used to be in the OT program and she was living with 5 other girls in a house so each of them paid $500.
I'm from San Jose too! We should carpool for orientation lolSame here looking for housing! I am from San Jose. I don't know San Rafael area at all haha
