DO's signing outside of match

As a DO I have been offered a position outside of the allopathic match. Does anyone know of any disadvantages to this "pre-match"?

Disadvantages:

- If you were aiming for a position in a better program... well it's gone now.

Otherwise... if you like the program... take it.

Question. If a program signs an applicant outside the match how do they rank all their applicants w/o filling the spot a pre-signed applicant fills? Do the programs designate how many spots they want to fill in the match when submitting things from their end?
