Is there any benefit in having Economics as a double major in addition to Biology if you're pre-dent? I wonder if it helps to get into dental school and/or find a job or start your own practice after you graduate from dental school.

Will a minor in Econ or Entrepreneuship will give same benefits as a second major?

Thanks.

At best, it'll help you stand out from science majors during the admissions process. Economics as a major itself isn't too useful for starting a dental practice, but some of the classes that might be associated with it, e.g. accounting, management, might be useful. I'd recommend taking just the classes you're interested in within the field of economics/business rather than chasing a major, unless you see yourself doing something other than dentistry at some point in your life.

I agree with MedDevil... it makes ur application look more unique.

however, I don't think there is any class or major in the world that will teach you how to own a practice. I believe this is more of a hands-on-learn-it-as-you-go.... Can't learn how to swim by reading a book, u gotta jump in

Majoring in Accounting I actually got to help a lot of the dentist I shadowed with there books and accounting systems, they all sayed they wished it was an area they studied
