NYC. It says in the letter that the class is filled and we are selected for the alternate list. Has anyone received anything but alternate list yet?

Thanx! Based on this thread, I think the last acceptance that they granted was mid-June! Trust me, I've been reading this thing over and over again, trying to extrapolate what's gonna happen next and what the possibilities could be. :scared:
 
Someone just got off the NYU waitlist, and I believe NYMC hasn't touched their waitlist yet but will in the next few weeks, hopefully the spots at Downstate will open because of these 🙂 . Your letter is probably around Georgia right now making its way to your house.

Apparition! I think you may be as bad as me with anticipation! LOL! I am on this site like every five minutes! Thanks for the prompt responses though! 🙂

I don't care if the letter is in my bushes, under the plants, in the depths of my garage, just as long as I know where I stand and what my next step is going to be! I am going to take a practice MCAT tomorrow! :scared: How exciting!

I hope the other waitlists start moving so that Downstate could start pulling you guys in (and hopefully me too!). I'm just a little worried about the class being over-filled. :scared: I don't understand why everything is so secretive when it comes to this process!!!! 👎

I got the First Class Mail today from downstate that indicated that I was put on the alternate list. 😴

I got the alternate list today. Priority mail in vanilla envelope. I'm in California.

I received my alternate list notification today as well. Not priority mail though, just standard 1st class USPS. TX here. My letter was mailed on July 3rd as well.
 
Just a quick update, I checked the "Withdrew" blog, looks like at least 8 ppl on this this website have withdrawn.

And, according to the "Waitlist" blog, no one has been accepted off the SUNY-Waitlist thus far.

Let's hope those withdrawals turn into acceptances off the wait-list!!!

on a side note for people on alternate list, do you guys know if the BLS is the same thing as a CPR certification?
 
just got the alternate list letter today.... do we really have to take a cpr course before we even get in????
 
Got the alternate letter today also. Regular Mail. Is it me, or does it seem like everyone on the HOLD list is just being moved over to the ALTERNATE list?

I'd like to know this too. I haven't heard of anyone getting rejected from the hold list. But would they really have so many people go through with the physical/cpr course/transcripts if only a few of them had a chance?

Where are you and Shuey from? Yeah, I've given up hope too! 🙁 This process stinks.... I am from Florida, I know the postal system down here is a little slow, actually, it's terrible!!! But, this is not making any sense, so I'm throwing the towel in dude! 👎

anyone look into taking this cpr course?? or whatever it is....
 
good thing in my last semester of college i took a cpr course so i have that taken care of...

but i have to get into the school first
 
Just a word of advice to everyone, I was on the alternate list last year and they are very particular about which CPR course it is that you take. I am pretty sure that you have to be certified via the American Heart Association for the BLS for Healthcare Providers. They are not gonna accept anything else, that is, unless they've changed the process.

Funny how I made the list last year and this year there's no love from downstate for me! I gotta laugh at it or else I will go into hysteria! Good luck to you all and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you! :luck:
 
Hey did all of you hold people who were then waitlisted send a letter of intent when you found out that you were on hold (before you got waitlisted)? I am just trying to figure out what is going on in the heads of those admissions office people. 🙂
 
Did anyone here not get any kind of word from Downstate? I had my interview April 3rd and have not been accepted, rejected, or put on any kind of list. People in admissions just told me to wait it out, since they had not gotten up to my interview group yet.
 
got my notification that i'm on the alternate list today, however, they want me to send in all the health forms and such by the 17th, which is ridiculous, thats a week from today. Anyway, any news is good news at this point.

Hey, i got the letter yesterday as well, giving me one week to get all the med forms, ppd, blood test , etc in. WTH!? Since we recieved the alternatet list invitation so close to the deadline, does that mean we are near the bottom of the rankings. If so that is very sucky!

When did you interview? I think they are going by interview dates.
 
Called the office today, they said that they have not reviewed my application yet! I interviewed March 8th so....
 
I interviewed March 6th and a reply was sent July 3rd.

My letter indicated that the class is currently full.

They would have to say that to explain why we are on alternate list.
 
Hey everyone,

This is my first day as a member of this site. I only started checking it out recently, actually, because I was wondering about the waitlist goings-on.

Currently I'm in Guatemala studying spanish and volunteering. I'm supposed to be in Guatemala until August 4th. Before I left, I truly believed that I was cooked and planned to reapply for Fall 2008. This may (with much hope) present a problem in the near future.

The day before I left, I accepted a waitlist position at Drexel (which was easy to accept b/c it was just a signature page) and, since reading your posts, I am now somewhat concerned about the letter that Downstate said it sent me on July 6th. Not good, right? I probably need to get moving back to the US? But, to not get ahead of my horses, I should say that the letter is in mail forwarding hell currently and may see the light of day only to say "FINAL REJECTION". At this point, either result would be somewhat calming and I guess decisions will have to be made when more is known.

But, are the chances really 1 in 2 to get in from this alternate list for Downstate? That would be really fantastic, if I indeed have such a position. I've lived in Brooklyn for the past two years and love it.

While all this is working itself out, I'm posting to mire in this uncertainty with y'all.
 
Did anybody notice a number circle on their envelope containing the alternate list info? Mine has a number 2 circle on there, i wonder if thats something to do with the post office or i'm being too paranoid.
 
Last year, Waitlist acceptances (the ones posted on this site at least) started on 7/11 and went as late as 8/3.

I got the letter that Im on the waitlist last Friday, and I don't if my health forms will be in before July 17th. I hope I can still get in anyway...good luck to everyone
