Hey guys, quick question, a friend of mine just submitted their secondary to RVU and heard back from them saying that their file will not be complete because they won't accept a letter from a DPM as their physician letter. It clearly states on the RVU website that they want "a letter of recommendation from a US-trained physician." So i'm a little confused as too why they won't accept the letter when no other school has raised objections and Podiatrists really are physicians. If anyone has had a similar experience or advice, please let me know!

Why does your friend not have a DO/MD letter? That just seems to stand out to me if he actually does want to be a DO/MD.

Schools can kind of pick and choose what they will or will not consider an acceptable letter. If RVU doesn't want to accept it there is nothing that can be done; regardless of the physician status of DPM.

Although Pods are doctors, they practice a very specific branch of medicine. It makes perfect sense to me that a school would choose not to accept a DPM LOR to fulfill a requirement.

dpm =/= do/md.

This unfortunately.
