a triple bond... The way I was taught which has been extremely helpful is, you look for how many elements the carbon is attached to. Then you subtract 1... For example: In methane, the central carbon is connected to 4 Hydrogen atoms.... therefore 4-1= 3.... methane is sp3 hybridized.
