Dr. Collins PCAT warning letter??

I just received a email from " dr. collins attonry" saying that they will pursue legal action against me for "that we intend to pursue legal action against you for infringing on Dr. Collins' intellectual property rights." ... so you aren't allowed to sell a used study guide on SDN? Has anyone else gotten this email before? :scared:

that's why you don't sell it... -.- Get a lawyer

I didnt know it was a crime to sell a used book on here. Im so confused.
 
It's not illegal to sell a book here. But it IS illegal to resell Dr. Collins. You signed a contract when you bought it.
 
I have not signed a contract..? I bought mine of craigslist, have taken my exam and no longer need it, so I posted it on here.
 
So you bought it from Craigslist.., so the person that sold it to you was doing something illegal, and you continued it.. This is what you see when you purchase Dr. Collins

"The undersigned student of the PCAT Prep Class agrees not to share, sell or distribute in any manner, materials from the class. You have purchased a one user license intended solely for the person registered using this form. If materials are sold in violation of copyright and EULA, you will be subject to legal action."
 
I had no idea about this whole situation. Or that his students arent allowed to sell the book they purchase from him. i saw plenty of people selling it used on here, if it was illegal why would sdn even allow the sale of the item on here? 😕

No clue. Just ignore the email.. Don't email them or anything. Perhaps, don't try and sell it on SDN anymore.

I have no idea who you are skrumpy.. haha. I haven't pondered yet.
 
8888888 Is a patent troll for sure. I would'nt worry too much about it. Make another user name and keep selling. Dr. collins himself is infringing on the copywrites of pearson and whom ever writes the pcat. Alot if the questions are verbatim from the test and practice guides. Why do you think they can't get it published. Keep doing your thing, so many students are reselling this guide they can't afford the sue them all.

Shouldn't take you more than 5 min if you look through some of my older posts.. I haven't really been trying to hide it or anything hehe.

Dr. Collins study guide is some good stuff... valuable. why sell it?? I would keep it and pass on to the next generation or it might be useful in pharmacy school, in case u'd forgot some of the materials. lol :laugh:
 
There is no actual proof you sold or even had the Dr. Collins packet in your possession.
 
I still took the ad down and im deff not planning on selling it on here anymore. I dont want any issues with anyone. But I feel that SDN should make a sticky or something warning people not to sell Dr collins on these forums to prevent any future legal issues.
 
ucfcastillo I would'nt worry too much. If you choose not to sell your guide thats your choice. Dont worry about legal ramifications, many SDN'ers have been contacted in the past. Absolutely nothing came of these threats.
 
I would not worry about it. Probably just a warning nothing more. As long as you don't continue to sell his stuffs, you will be fine.

I'm thinking about giving it away for free. I don't need it anymore and someone could use it instead.
 
If you buy from Dr Collins you promise not to sell it (practically impossible to enforce). If you buy it from someone else you made no such promise (the person you bought it from might have but that has nothing to do with you).

Ignore him.

If you did not actually sell the material there is nothing they can do....if you did, well hope that they are just bluffing.
 
I bought used from on-line and I didn't sign anything. I'm not going to sell it because I don't want to get any troubles. Think SDN'ers better not sell Dr.Collins because they are monitoring us. But, if they've been using decoy students as buyers to trap us, isn't that also illegal thing to do? 😡

I would'nt worry too much about it. This is a total bluff. "Nancy" in the legal department is actually the wife of Dr. Collins, She's not an attorney. I would sell your copy and be done with it.
 
Do you really think that whoever owns Dr. Collins is really going to spend thousands on lawyers to recover a couple hundred dollars if that?

also Dr. Collins isnt even worth it...just get the Mcgraw Hill guide for like $30

no..actually Dr. Collins worth it. just make sure to buy cheaper one.

hahaha HELL NO!!! Mcgraw Hill is like the most useless study guide i ever bought... those questions there are way too easy.... i feel like reading some book from freshman year...

McGraw is the worst.
 
I do not think it is worthy to sell an intellectual property of someone who invests a lot of money into. You are gonna spend thousand of dollars in pharmacy school and this little guide costs nothing compared to pharmacy school. It is also a question of ethical. Do you want to be an unethical pharmacist? If you get it for free or from someone with a cheaper price just keep it for yourself or do not resell it.

Lesson learned: never buy Dr. Collins. Not only are their "rules" ridiculous, but his packet sort of sucks and is RIDICULOU$LY overpriced.

Just study from the Pearson tests; they're cheaper, closer to the actual PCAT, and they don't come after you like a maniac trying to sue you for something that really should be within your rights as a consumer (I heavily dislike that "Dr." Collins makes you sign your life away to buy their packet).

I don't think their stuff is ridiculously overpriced. It's way cheaper than taking a class and the it gets results fast. Studied a little over a week before pcat and scored pretty high. Saved me a lot of time and told me exactly what to study and gave me almost verbatim questions on the test.
