Direct hit. Nail on the head! This is a classic problem in our society today. Fool or no Fool, Rey is a rare exception. Without TV, it is hard for him to generate that kind of money. Remember that we are service professionals. You litreally trade hours for dollars. You make more per hour than most of the pople in society but you do trade hours for dollars. Don't deny it, embrace it. If you want to have super inflated income, you need a business that generates money from something other than CPT codes. Yes, many plastic surgeons are "no insurance" but they are limited by their market.

I am not complaining, just offering perspective. As Surgeons, we are well compensated. But that compensation has a price. Time , energy, and (often)debt during training to name a few.

Spending beyond one's means, no matter how high the income is a very common problem. If high school and college had a mandatory class called "wealth" we would all be better off. 🙂

Yeah, it's impossible to become "rich" by working for an hourly wage or yearly salary or trading labor for dollars, jobs/procedures/visits for fees/reimbursements - whatever you want to call it.

Im suprised the newspapers didnt hit that up, was fairly big last year among some circles of docs in LA. I bet this guy has got some kept ladies...

Rey could turn around and sell his practice, and just KILL it. Sell it to some young guy, work with him for a few years, and then retire. Make a truck load of money.

Rey is a kid from the hood'. I think he probably knows the value of a dollar. He certainly knows how to make money beyond his scope of practice (TV ads).

I don't admire Rey as a surgeon, but as a businessman, he's rippin it up.

also need to consider that Rey has leveraged his income-generating potential by employing NPs and aestheticians to do Botox, laser skin treatments etc. He generates income from all of these acitvities. Similar scenarios play out in other plastics practices. These guys are not 'trading time for money', but making money from the labors of those they supervise. Glod bless em.

additionally, he is not LOSING money by taking ER cases, not accepting insured patients, or taking care of inpatients.

masterfull.

Eh, not really. He was adopted by rich americans when he was young. From what I've seen of his show, his obscession with his biological father's allegedly having called him worthless is what he himself cites as the origin of his need seek external validation through his ultra-high consumtion lifestyle. He's far from being "a kid from the hood".

Who knows what the state of his finances are? Anyone who claims to know for sure with zero information is a tool.

Anyway, this thread is about blackbelt Rey's heroic midair combat with a distressed eighty-year-old. What a dip****.
