do you guys have any idea what we should be wearing? do we need to come in wearing slacks and a button up, or are jeans and a t-shirt just fine? i'll be orienting in at UVM, and have no clue what to wear.

p

Underwear with pants and shoes would be a good start. Shirt optional. You might want to consider wearing an authentic American Indian Head-Dress, it will make you stand out more allowing for the orientation leaders to have an ice-breaker conversation topic to start with you. 😀 😉

Hi poloace,

I was wondering that too! I think I am going to go in between. Not totally casual, but summer dresses and things!

probably depends on the activity

I thought I read that a suit is required. Single breasted jacket (NOT double breasted!), flat front pants, BLACK socks (no wearing white athletic socks with a suit), white or blue shirt and polished shoes. Your tie must be tied with a FULL windsor and not a HALF windsor knot. Anything less is grounds for immediate dismissal.

I was planning on wearing my daniel boone hat made from the beaver I killed and skinned myself.....my old dirty carhart work pants....a 22 inch machete just in case we find ourselves hopelessly lost in the jungle and a pair of plaid suspenders. Oh yeah, and probably a lime green or pink fanny pack to hold all my gear.

You could just call them up?

i'd wear a monkey suit, and 3 legged stockings, you know- to fill up. god, how ******ed can you be? the attire specifically states 'monkey suit and rambo head dress.'

One word...SPANDEX!

I thought you were supposed to rent a white coat and buy a stethoscope to wear around your neck during orientation week....the school wants to see your total dedication to the profession

You have to shave your pubes into your school's name followed by 2007. If you aren't sure how PM tBw, he's the answer man. You should prob dye them to match the school colors as well.

I say you have to make an impression quickly so wear nothing but your birthday suit. Hey, you only get one chance to make a first impression.

wow, thanks for the great advice. i wish i could take a weedwacker to each of your legs, and then piss on you. god, that would be the greatest, you ******.

p

hey dude,

Relax, we're just messing with you. Just to make sure, it would be wise to call the school and ask. I'm sure many people in your school and all over the country are asking this same question.

PS: You should really consider that birthday-suit idea. If not for the orientation then for the haloween party. Ok, just to be discreet, for those politically correct types, wear a fig leaf around the important areas.

Remember, life is only what you make of it. Have fun and enjoy the time before classes start.

omg polo seriously. if you were asking the original question with any degree of seriousness, then you kinda deserve the "advice." i mean, really, you're just going to school. did you dress differently for college orientation? how about job orientations? are you really going to dress any differently because you're in classes for *med* school? you're not going to be seeing patients at orientation... you're gonna be sitting in auditoriums, listening to talks about schedules, about managing finances, about your classes, about managing time. you'll meet a dean or seven. you're going to be in small groups, doing icebreaker $hit that i hate, doing "teambuilding activities" that i also hate. you're gonna get an ID picture taken and then receive said ID. if you're lucky, you'll get to do a high ropes course 🙂rolleyes: i'm skipping mine). really, why dress any differently than you would on any other day to class? there is one thing on my orientation schedule that is called the "challenge program" and they tell us to wear "athletic type clothing and shoes." other than that, no dress requirements.

for all interested, i'm going to be the chick there in my day-to-day clothes, because, until i start seeing patients and doing rotations, that's what i'll be wearing every day.

This is a good idea. But everyone - don't be mislead. G$'s idea of ordinary clothing does not typically mesh with other's ideas of ordinary clothing. She often flaunts a toga and a rag on a stick. Look out - because you don't know where the rag has been.

I can't see any reason why it would be any different than the first day (orientation) of undergrad. So, I'm gonna stagger in 5 minutes late, bloodshot eyes, crazy hair and all, probably with the booze still leaking from my pores, and still wearing the same clothes I had on the night before. I think it might be a safe assumption that I won't be the only one in this group.....

People who sit in the back of the class......UNITE!

What does "toga and rag on a stick" mean???????😕 😕 😕
GM is really a 400 pound woman who has to use rag on a stick to wash herself seeing as she can't quite reach all those special places she needs to when bathing herself.
