two questions:

1. how is drew/ucla different from just ucla med (geffen)

2. are there two separate harvard programs? something like hms new pathways and some health sciences program that still gets you an md?

thanks in advance :)

omg, i think this is the 1 millionth thread asking the same question. ucla medical school has 3 separate (separate applications, separate adcoms) programs....

ucla/westwood- ucla all 4 years, 121 spots, "regular" program

ucla/drew- ucla first 2 years, drew second 2 years, for those whose mission is to work with the underserved, 24 spots.

ucla/uc riverside- uc riverside for undergrad plus first 2 years of med, ucla for second 2 years, apply out of high school, 24 spots.

I hope this helps.

Yes, two programs... NP (New Pathways) and HST (Health Science and Technology). Both are MD programs. The former emphasizes problem-based learning and the latter emphasizes traditional classroom curriculum with additional science coursework at MIT. Most students in the HST are planning careers involving research and many continue to earn their PhDs with MDs.
