Drexel Acceptances?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How long has it been taking most of you to receive responses after "you're decision has been made"..I received that message on the 10th and still no mail 🙁

I got that message on the 7th or 8th and got my letter (big envelope!!! 😀) today, dated the 11th. So... two weeks.

Congrats!!

When did you interview? I have had the message saying my file is under review by the committee for about 5 weeks now and no final decision has been made yet.

did anyone's status change today? i've been "under review" for over 2 weeks now. i'm guessing if they don't mail the letters this week, we won't find out anything until next year.

I talked to the adcom, today. My stat changed last friday and they told me my letter was mailed out on Tuesday.
I live ~20 min away from the school and the letter, hopefully a fat one, is not here yet. I guess this time of the year, the snail mails are extra slow.
Good luck!

Thanks!

I interviewed eight weeks ago, and I had my status change to say they'd made the final decision six weeks after that. Best of luck!

Weird question here...how long did it take people in Philly to actually receive a letter after a letter was mailed? I'm outside of Philly for the holidays and keep thinking something could be sitting in my mailbox! I checked before I left on Friday (12/21) and there was nothing.

I can't remember exactly, but it was about a week/week and a half from when it said the decision has been made. Larger envelopes with lower class postage take a little longer, but carry better news, so hopefully the wait means good news. I'm just a few minutes away in Chestnut Hill, so the mail really shouldn't have taken that long.

Adcom told me my letter was sent on last tues and I should get it by last fri.
well, no mail from drexel, not even today!
torture, I tell you, torture!!😡
I live only 20min drive from drexel and I been getting mails from philly mailing addresses pretty much the next day they were sent.
I hope your guess is right, boodthedog.
After all this wait, thin envelop may drive me to join the 7th floor of my hospital(psych floor).:scared:

So it has been two weeks as of today but still nothing..and I'm in Jersey so I'm not that far

Still no letter, anyone?

Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel University.

WhoHoo!! 🙄

anyone know how good one's chances are to get in after being on the post interview waiting list?

Well last year the waitlist didn't move at all since they over-accepted people, causing them to offer a $10,000 reduction in tuition for a year to 15 or so people if they deferred into our class. As a result, they're probably being over-cautious this year to avoid last years disaster, which means hopefully it will actually move this year (although your individual chances would be difficult to gauge), or at least this is what I'm telling myself to feel better (I too am a post-interview waitlister). What also sucks though is that these people who deferred are taking up spots that are usually not taken, making it even more selective this particular application year.

Anyway good luck, I know I'd be here in a second if I end up getting off (I'm just praying that if it happens it's in April or May, not two weeks before classes start)

wow my reviewers must have written and submitted my evaluations really quickly...or yours are reallllyy sloowww

Well I'm not having any trouble waiting anymore b/c I've already made fail-safe plans for next year! WooHoo! 😀 I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a waitlist letter from NJMS. I'm still waiting for RWJ since it's only been 10 days since my interview there.

My main complaint about the time it takes to receive your acceptance letter is that you're losing that time from the 21 days they give you to reply. Mine had really bad timing on top of that. I'm a west coaster and we know they sit on them before actually mailing them out, so I got my letter 10 days after its official date, and right before a weekend. Then came Christmas, and my 21 days are up on Jan 1, so no USPS service on that day either. I actually only got eight days to reply with a money order/cashier's check and my PIL application. (The applications never end!) Plus, again, my being on the other side of the country means I'd better give the mail at least 4 days. I sure hope Drexel gets it in time. It was frustrating to have to do all this on only Dec 22, 24, and 26, while I'm trying to balance an extended work schedule due to everyone else taking a couple of weeks off.

But I guess all that's overshadowed by the fact that it's an acceptance. Heh.

I think if you call and explain the situation they will give you an extension on returning it...that rule can't be set in stone, what if you went on vacation for 2 weeks for the holidays?

Hey everyone! Congrats to those who are hearing some good news 🙂. I have been complete a little over 10 weeks now and I was wondering about how long it takes to be reviewed? I am an out of state applicant if that changes anything... Thanks

yea i was wondering the same thing cuz i was complete about 13 weeks ago, and I still haven't heard anything. does this mean rejection, or do i still have a chance?
Thanks!!😀

I was complete in mid-August and received my invite just before Thanksgiving, so that was about 13 weeks until I heard anything. I'm pretty sure they interview until March or April, so my only advice would be to sit tight and keep them updated on any additions to your application.

I was complete about 6 weeks before I got my interview now 10 weeks and my status just changed to decision made so I guess I will have to wait another week to hear snail mail!!!!!!! good luck all with Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays it has put them behind

I was just wondering if any one else had this message and had a feel for its implications. "Thank you for confirming your intention to remain on the Drexel Admissions waiting list." As I understand it this is a post interview hold. Thanks for your thoughts everybody.

Where does it say that? Did you receive anything in the mail?

The quote came from my admissions webpage. The actual physical letter says "that the committee has decided to defer consideration at this time." Thanks for yalls thoughts.

So I'm finally in..I haven't gotten my official letter yet but they faxed a copy to me yesterday and it was dated December 11th so I have no idea what actually happened to the original..

And Vaulter that 21 days isn't very strict. I just got my letter on the 29th and since it's the weekend it would've been very difficult to make the 21 day deadline but I called and asked and they said if its not sent within the 21 days you just get a follow-up letter..so its nothing to worry about.

Congrats to all..

Congratulations, ahlat1! Yeah, I called after I stressed about it and and they told me the same thing. Someone had just told me a story (apocryphal?) about getting an acceptance rescinded, so I got scared. Kinda stupid of me. 😳 Thanks.

hey you Drexel people. I have 7 interviews and 2 acceptances at a wide range of schools. Why silence from Drexel? I really want to check this school out and I think my stats and all are in their range (not too high or too low).

Why??? any thoughts or ideas??

Hey Lemontree,

It took Drexel 13 weeks to get back to me once I was complete, so they can be a bit slow. I don't know your stats, but judging by the number of interviews and acceptances, you are clearly a very competitive candidate. Perhaps they are looking at your application and assuming that they are a safety school for you and thinking that you would reject them if they were to offer you an acceptance?

If I were in your shoes, and are truly interested in Drexel, send them a Letter of Interest detailing why you believe you would be a good fit there and what interests you about them.

Good luck!

did you call and tell them to fax?

Actually the lady I spoke to offered it herself..I think they saw that it had been awhile since the notice was actually sent and so they were willing to fax it.

i interviewed at drexel on 10/31, but my online page still hasn't changed. should i be concerned?

I'm wondering the same. No change on mine and I interviewed early November.

Hey all! I interviewed at Drexel during the first week of October and my status page said the following for the past 4 weeks, " Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel of University." Does anybody have any idea why they would be reviewing my file for 4 weeks without giving me a decision? Has anybody else had a similar experience with Drexel? I have been checking my status everyday but no change has been made. :scared:

I had called them a few weeks back, as I have the same message as you. Basically, it means what it says. Their adcom meets on Thursdays. They don't necessarily decide on an application as soon as it is delivered to them. They will review it and then decide whether to admit, reject, waitlist, or...defer a decision until the next adcom meeting. That is where you and I stand. They are continually deferring our decision. They seem to do it to almost everybody, so I wouldn't take it as either a positive or a negative.

Thanks for the info! I guess being in this position is better than an instant rejection post interview. I am hoping for good news in the next few weeks!! :scared:

Just checked my status:

"A final decision has been reached and a letter will be mailed to your preferred address."

The waiting begins......:scared:

I have been waiting 2 weeks for the letter still nothing...

Oh wow! Congratulations! 👍

Seems like you had a rather quick turnaround. I interviewed at the same time but, alas, "no decision has been made" for me yet. Congrats again and maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll see in you September!
