Drexel Acceptances?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They tell you a decision has been made, but don't let you know what that decision is. You have to wait another two weeks for the decision to come in the mail. I am in the middle of that wait right now.

Based on my experiences, consider yourself lucky if you even get a decision through the mail.

took me about 3 weeks when my online status changed to actually receive my physical letter. it was a waitlist letter though. acceptances are big packets i hear. overall process was 12 weeks from interview till letter came in the mail

Ummm. What are you talking about? Was your letter lost or something?

Since Mid-December, when I got a status of "a decision is made and a letter will be sent," I have not received the mail. I have called 2 times--their answer "hmmmm"--and e-mailed 2 times as well--no response e-mail replies.

OMG, that is crazy! You mean it has been a month and a half since they made a decision and still not letter? I hope that they get it worked out for you :luck::luck::luck:

Interviewed in mid Oct and didn't receive anything until Beg of Jan. It took a month after Dec was made until I got a letter they sent everything out in batches. and they are very slow!!! gl

I'm in the same boat as you Shapley, I interview 12/4 and got the status change on 2/8. I called and asked when the letters were sent out and was told that mine, at least, was mailed 2/12. It's now been a week with no letter so I called the office again and was told that the letters go "to another destination" first. What does that mean? Where else would they send them before sending them to us? It makes sense though, why regular mail from Drexel has been taking several weeks to reach people...

amm...its been 6 weeks for me too!! I keep meaning to call them again but then I just forget.

Ugghh. Drexel does seem like a beaurocratic nightmare, I'm not surprised that they have to mail it to multiple places before they mail it to the applicant. I know that have to get it to the dean's office to be signed first. Maybe this is what they mean? Who knows. I'm just trying to be patient. GL to you.

Hey surfer I'm sure you've heard this already, but it's likely yours got lost somewhere along the way. You should give them a call today or tomorrow and tell them how long its been. They should send another one out for you or something.

Shapley, I'm also a Penn Post-Bacc!! Who did you interview with at Drexel? Any good news yet from other schools?

Hey fellow Post-bacc! If you check out my mdapps, you will see my progress. I am in limbo everywhere with one waitlist and four under consideration. How about you?

I think I was in Hollanders research course with you. Anyway, the only real lead I have now is Drexel - thats the only interview I've had so far. Otherwise I've got pre-interview holds at 4 schools....lame. I hope I get some good news soon.

Hi all,

I've heard that the mail moves somewhat slowly from Drexel Med, but I had no idea it went to 'another destination.' Sorry about that, I wish I knew where exactly the mail went before reaching you guys. Yes, it does go to the Dean for her signature, but her office is in the medical school, so I don't think you are waiting for her. Also, the Admissions Office is incredibly backlogged as I mentioned before. The Admissions Committee is actually having extra meetings to catch up with the backlog of applications.

So, if your status does not say that a decision has been made, just relax, and be patient--at least as patient as possible.

For those of you still waiting to hear from Drexel, hang in there!

I called and they said mine goes to the special meeting tonite! Oooh!

I hope its not a special rejection meeting!

Hey dowlin, were like the same! :idea:check the mdapps!

Yeah man, lets hope for both our sakes that Drexel looks kindly in our favor. I don't really know what's going wrong with my app. I mean, I thought I'd have gotten WAY more interviews given my work and athletic experience as well as the decent numbers. I'm confident that I got solid recs, and my statement was decent too. Could it really have been that I submitted too late to get seriously considered?

Wait, so when did you interview? I'm surprised they haven't made a decision yet about yours. I got the invitation to interview on 11/8 and interviewed a little under a month later on 12/4...(was that a mistake to wait that long?)

Anyway, my status was changed a little under two weeks ago to "decision has been made..." Like I said, I'm surprised yours hasn't been finally reviewed yet...

Im like the oldest guy here. My interview was on 11/12.

interviewed january 8th, has been exactly 6 weeks and still under review. but drexel has nothing on njms they've had me in limbo since december 21st.

Hey, how long is it taking for people to get their letters from when their status changes, I saw about two weeks. My status FINALLY changed monday after a 11/20 interview and I really wanna know whats going on before my next interview on the 3rd. Lets hope for speedy letter signing!

hey i called drexel last week to check my status and update my address info, but i interviewed on january 4th and still havent heard nething. its right in that 6-8 week time frame tho. should i call them and see if i will make it into the special meeting or should i hold off until the 8 week mark is up and then start calling. i just wanna know! come on drexel, you can do it!

jelly just chill out, take a deep breath, and move on .. if and when drexel is ready to talk to you, they will. They're already back-logged enough; they don't need people hounding them about not getting a reply .. you can check your status online, too, and it will tell you when a decision has been made. Even then, you won't get a letter until around 2 weeks after that .. the whole process on average takes 10 weeks .. many have said 12-14 weeks, and others have heard within a month .. in general, the longer the wait, the worse off you are (i.e. waitlist or rejection .. BUT acceptances happen too) .. the quicker the reply, the less likely it means you're waitlisted (i.e. you're accepted or rejected .. BUT waitlists happen) one thing I can say for certain is that the process is definitively uncertain

hehe yeah man i will hold off. im just venting frustrations that many of us have. its all good tho.

I don't think that's true at all, it just means Drexel is backlogged and if you're lucky enough to get evaluated soon after your interview it just means that your packet got grabbed, nothing more. For those who wait weeks upon weeks, I think that's the norm here.

status changed today from "under review by committee member going to committee shortly" to "under review by admissions committee". yay maybe only another two months before i get final decision right?

so has anyone interviewed in mid-January gotten a status change?

I'd say prob. 4 weeks before you get a letter in your hands. Honest estimate. Where else did you apply? Interviews?

Great to see another ER researcher on here. That sucks though about your interview progress. We have similar apps (similar stats with unique ECs). My feeling is that we both have the best shots at rolling schools, so applying early makes a huge difference. Hang in there though. Since you did arrive a bit late in the game you have a better shot at hearing from your silent schools than someone like myself.

"A decision has been reached and a letter will be mailed to a preferred address."

14 weeks in counting....

Whats the wait time, 2 weeks, 3 weeks?

Waitlisted today. ARGGHHHHH!!!!

jeez, way to have a memoryy

maybe u should remember to fix your internet, too!!!

would you like to 1) come fix my internet and 2) call drexel and pretend to be me?
thank you 🙂

oh baby status change. It changed from If you interviewed please wait 6 -8 weeks to " your file is under review by the admissions committee. No decision has been made yet" or something like that. Come on drexel baby come on! you can do it. ROunding the stretch. Its drexel by a neck. Just make it across the finish line!

Waitlisted today. ARGGHHHHH!!!!

Sorry about the waitlist! I just found out I got in today but I will be more than likely withdrawing so that will open up a spot for you. Good luck😳

2.5 weeks is average

BUT you can check your status RIGHT NOW and avoid the snail mail wait ..

go to https://banner.drexel.edu/pls/duprod/twbkwbis.p_wwwlogin
log in .. if you can .. if you can log in, then you got the waitlist or acceptance .. if you can't, then gulp

at least that is what I think .. I got the waitlist (i.e. my status says, "Thank you for confirming your intention to remain on the Drexel Admissions waiting list.") and I can get in .. can't do much though I'm afraid .. other people who were post-interview / pre decision could NOT get in

this is a conjecture and is by no menas even remotely true .. if you can get in you might be rejected .. if you can't you might be accepted .. but it's worth trying .. if you CAN get in then that is GOOD news .. if you CAN'T then it's NOT BAD news .. i don't know really TRY IT!

oh and by "getting in" i mean you see this screen:

Thanks. It was a little disconcerting since it is my second waitlist...and being an older applicant (with theater experience to boot!), I feel that I am a pretty good interviewee. Oh well, I'm pretty sure its my gpa (definitely on the low side) unless I'm just clueless, which is possible :scared:

Question for the other waitlistees here: do we have any idea about any projected movement here? I know all about last year's fiasco, so are they really underaccepting this year? What have you been told?

That website you listed has nothing to do with accepted/waitlisted/rejected. Or at least in my experience, I was waitlisted and don't have access to that page through my banner id.

Anyone on here still on pre-interview hold? My application has been complete since 9/20 and I still get the "No decision is currently available. Keep checking this website for updates to your status." Seriously, at least tell me that I'm not even going to get an interview if that's the case. All it takes is a simple answer...

I'm post interview and pre-decision and was able to log in. (i'm still in the interview scheduled...6-8weeks phase) I'm not sure it means anything. 😳

yeah i am post-interview predicision...14 weeks....RIDICULOUS!

So I called the admissions office today to get some clarification on how their waitlist worked. They weren't very helpful. I was able to learn that it was ranked, but they wouldn't say how large it is (just that it is growing) nor if they are planning to pull from it (which they didn't last year). They also were very vague as to whether they are pulling people off of it, and wouldn't give a time when they may start. I sent my letter in to stay on the list, but I have pretty much written it off as a realistic possibility.

I mean, I'm solid with everything else, including extras, so I don't get it??? I mean what gives?? I don't have very much hope anywhere anymore, that was my only interview out of seriously 30 schools!!! No joke, applied to 30!! At least you've had interviews at other places dude...
