No. I think sending such a letter is more appropriate in a waitlist situation. Just my opinion.
 
Reviving out of desparation for news. I am coming up on 6 weeks. Anyone else nervously waiting to hear? Just looking for some commiseration. :scared:
 
Hi Haemulon. I called the admissions office last Wednesday and found out there's no decision on my file yet. It's been 9 weeks for me. Hang in there - hopefully we'll hear back soon 👍

P.S. If you call the admissions office, they ask for your AAMC ID so have that handy.

Better than calling the admissions office and them saying that some decisions take longer than others and you can check your decision status online (though I've read on here that it doesn't work). Its been over 8 weeks for me...

Thanks for the updates. Looks like I could have a number of weeks left to wait. I have heard that the decision status page online really doesn't change, even after you get an official decision in the mail. I still check, but I doubt it will provide any timely information about decisions. Very helpfull for invites though. Good luck to both of you! :luck:
 
One more question for you two: did your "View Interview Appointment" link disappear already? Mine disappeared about a week and a couple days ago, so I was hoping that it meant there was some activity. But I suppose it may just be a coincidence.

I just checked my status page and it says Decision not available. The "View Interview Appointment" link has disappeared.
 
Funny thing for me. The "View your interview" link is still there. Oh, no decision either and I've been waiting 8 weeks. Oh well, fingers still crossed.🙂

I have a hypothesis, one shared with me by some other SDN friends, that the link gets removed the Friday after they review your file and make a decision (adcom meets on Thursdays). Then, your letter gets typed up to be mailed out at the beginning of the next week (lets say Tuesday perhaps). To be received by you approximately 7 days later, give or take. Given that scenario, we should expect something very soon (the end of this week or beginning of next?). This is all pure speculation of course, but whatever gets us through the next week right? One day at a time. Just trying to keep my hope alive.
 
you guys have any idea on the waitlist movement at drexel?
 
6th week coming and the interview appointment link still there, and still no decision made 🙁

You and I were there the same day, so I'm in the same boat. Although I can't see my link anymore. But like I said before, my speculations about it meaning anything were just that. (wishfull thinking on my part)
 
Hi guys,
I interviewed a while ago, and they said that the letters have been mailed out recently, so I should be getting it in the mail soon. Whats weird is that the person who answered the phone said that without me providing my AAMC number. I said can I provide it so that you can make sure it was mailed out, and the person replied, it was mailed out.

Making a living alreadydefinitely helps, although daydreaming about becoming a doctor has now made my job seem all the more dull and unpalatable (which makes the days longer and longer). 🙁
 
my interview link just disappeared....all fingers crossed 🙂

I am sorry about your waitlist. I certainly know how it feels. But there is still definitely a chance, so hang in there.

Was it a regular-sized envelope or a large envelope? I only ask because I people have said that acceptance letters from them come in a large envelope and I want to be prepare when I finally receive something from them (size may tell the news before even opening it).

Hi Trismegistus4. Well, at least it's not a rejection right? Maybe you'll get off the waitlist...and looks like you are waiting on 2 decisions and have another interview scheduled. Keep your hopes up 👍

Regular-sized, I believe #10 is the official designation, the kind letters come in folded into thirds. And it was thin, because it contained only the single sheet. I was actually slightly relieved when I opened it, because upon seeing the envelope I assumed it was a rejection.

Well, I guess now I know that I won't get to slowly walk up the driveway with the envelope in my hand, heart racing, slowly opening it as a drum roll plays in my mind and I wait for the climactic moment in which I discover my long-awaited fate.

Sigh .... now one day I will just open the mailbox and WHAM! I will know.

Aww, I didn't mean it that way. I just thought it was a given that acceptances are big and fat, but if you do get a small envelope you still have to open it to determine its true significance.

(Though next time I get a small envelope, I'm going to hope it's a little letter that reads "Congratulations! X Medical School has decided to offer you a seat in our class starting in 2007. Go to the following URL to enroll and download all the materials you will need. 😉 )

Thank you so much Severus! I am beside myself in disbelief. I just cracked open a Sam Adams but will definitely be sharing some Champaign with my wife when the kids go to sleep 🙂

I wouldn't doubt it! 😀 It's just that it went from a very plain style to a more styled look, with graphic icons and formatted text. Maybe something with my browser. Dang, thought it maybe meant something. :laugh:
