After not hearing from Drexel in half a year (excluding invitations to apply to their masters programs), I just got a call today inviting me for an interview this Saturday, May 3rd. Uh, isn't this a little short notice? Do they really expect a person to drop everything and buy a $1000 plane ticket to interview for what is most likely a waitlist position?

Still, I'm flattered.

I got my acceptance on 4/18, interviewed 1/30. I declined it last week though...

Okay, i just checked my mail and I am on the waitlist now too. I guess all the letters made it to the west coast. I really wasn't expecting to hear back this soon. I didn't realize that its already been 7 weeks. Hmmm, i felt good about that interview too. damn.

if it makes you feel any better, we may be been reviewed too late for an outright acceptance. i don't know for sure though.

yeah, i was thinkin that may have been the case, but I didn't want anyone to think I was saying "oh well, if they didn't accept me, then they must not be accepting anyone." Then I was thinking, why would they invite someone to interview this week if they're just waitlisting people? maybe they want to pad their stats. I guess I should head to the post office to mail back my letter saying that I am thrilled to be on their waitlist. I like how the put waitlist in quotes. "Wait List" I should be hearing back from MCW by tuesday. They sent my decision letter today. They're only offering waitlist spots tho too.

I know you've heard this before - but they do have a LOT of movement on their waitlist. And May 15 is right around the corner - so you may have an acceptece in a few weeks (if not at Drexel, than at one of your other schools - in fact i'm sure you'd both rather stay in cali anyway 😉)

the only reason i say that is b/c someone posted a while ago (late march?) that they will be handing out acceptances at only 2 or 3 more committee meetings. we may (or may not -- don't take me as an example b/c i'm the queen of waitlists) have missed the boat.

Moskeeto is right--why keep interviewing if they are just giving out waitlists? Whatever. I'm crossing my fingers for you guys and withdrawing my name from the waitlist and heading to NC next year.

During my faculty interview with Dr. Weingarten (surgeon, MCP Hospital) the topic of the waitlist came up. Contrary to the information my student interviewer gave me, and the prevailing opinion of this and similar threads, he assured me I was in fact still very much interviewing for full acceptance. He, by the way, is a permanent fixture on the adcom.

So all y'all out there who interviewed on or before April 29th, stay positive...there is certainly hope.

And...just to add my two cents...I really liked Drexel's program - especially the PIL track. I don't believe the school deserves the criticism it currently receives. Anyone who is planning to attend Drexel in the fall should have a very positive outlook on their upcoming medical school years.

I'm currently waitlisted at Drexel also. Just out of curiosity where did everyone hear that the waitlist moves fast? I hope this rumor is true, especially since May 15 coming up

Gabes, you say your interviewer told you that you were eligible for an acceptance despite the late interview? That's good news, since I interviewed 4/12, but contradicts Lisa, who pretty much said flat out that we were interviewing only for wait-list spots. Hopefully YOU'RE right and I'm not🙂 .

And manik, I think that Lisa herself, as well as a number of the students there, were the ones that told me that the wait list moves quickly.
